God made a choice when He created mankind. He chose to create them in His own image, but gave them the ability to think, reason, and make choices of their own. Because Adam and Eve chose to disobey in the Garden of Eden, mankind has been making bad choices ever since. Every choice we make is as unique as our own personality and has consequences, but being chosen by God has a distinct purpose: to be holy and without blame before Him in love. In order to be holy and without blame before God, we need to learn how to make Biblical, God-pleasing choices every day of our lives. His choice to die on the cross gives us the choice to become the unique individual He created us to be. The first choice we need to make is to accept Him as Saviour. Then, in order to grow as Christians, we must choose to spend time in His Word, in prayer, and with other believers. A good way to start is at STYLE and camp. Each student and camper will be encouraged to consider whether their choices are God-pleasing or self-pleasing,

STYLE - June 13-18 (Spiritually Training Youth

for Life’s Encounters)

A week of STYLE gives high-schoolers a chance to experience life on campus, while also teaching them more about

God and His Word through chapels and classes. They will enjoy good food and recreational opportunities as well. This year they will learn how to make Biblical choices that are pleasing to the Lord. The cost is $100.00 which includes a trip to the Creation Museum.

The impact of a week of summer camp on a young person’s life cannot be overstated. One week of camp can lead not only to salvation decisions but can also lead young people to make the choice to dedicate their lives to the Lord and serve Him. Please pray for lives to be changed this summer. Our desire is to see young people saved and dedicated to the Lord with a desire to serve Him and then come to Southland to receive “Training that Prepares for Service.”

GRADUATION 2016 Congratulations to our newest one year Bible certificate graduates.

Phyllis Jean Adams “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me

faithful, putting me into the ministry;” I Timothy 1:12

Chris Sherman Hansen “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Philippians 4:13

Brian Matthew Keith “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

Romans 1:16

Our speaker for our one year certificate graduation was Rev. Tim Wright. In his message, he encouraged the graduates and the audience to become “second-mile Christians.” In Matthew 5:41, the greatest teacher of all time, Jesus Christ, commanded us to go the mandatory first mile, but also to show dedication and loyalty by going the second mile. We are all called to be Christ-like and to serve, but do we do only what is required and no more? Or do we go the second mile to help others with no expectations of anything in return? Our families, friends, and even foes provide numerous opportunities to go that second mile. If we notice, there are no carnal Christians, no complainers, no jealous ones, no greedy, or no hit and miss Christians on this second mile. There are just committed Christians who desire to be more like Christ and who want to make a difference in the lives of others. Are you looking for those opportunities?

Making a Difference

A special work group from Aetna Calvary Church in White Cloud, MI came to put their talents and time to use the first week of April. During the five days they were here, they stripped, repaired, and shingled the roofs of the dorm and multi-purpose building. What a blessing they were to us as they worked without complaint

through blisters, gusty winds, cold temperatures, and even rain. A special thanks to them for showing the love of Jesus to us, and a special thanks to those who contributed financially to buy the supplies. There were enough shingles left over to do the mobile dorm, but we still need to purchase the shingles for the office. Once those two buildings are completed, the roofing project will be finished. Would the Lord have you to make a difference by helping put roofs on the final two buildings?

Memorial Gifts are an excellent way to remember your loved ones that will bring glory to God and have a lasting impact for eternity. They go far beyond any other traditional means of remembrance and help enrich

the lives of countless people. If you would like to remember someone this way, please make your check payable to Southland Bible Institute and it will be used in our “training that prepares for service.”

YOU can make a difference! What can I do? I am just one person. I can’t make a difference. YES, YOU CAN. There are many opportunities to serve the Lord and help the ministries of Southland and Camp Evangel.

Yes, there is an urgent need for full time faculty and full time staff in every department, but there are many other possibilities as well. Could you volunteer for a day or a week during the summer? Summer help for camp is needed, and the grounds on both campuses need to be maintained. Maintenance and cleaning needs to be done on the buildings. But perhaps you are not able to come to either campus. Could you arrange a meeting to help promote the work of Southland and Camp Evangel in your home church and area? Could you talk to young people in your family or your church and get them interested in a Biblical education. Perhaps the Lord would have you support the work financially. Many of our faithful supporters are getting older and are going to heaven and there is no one stepping up to take their place. Several of our full time workers are under-supported and need to raise additional support in order to do the work God has called them to do. The general fund pays for upkeep, insurance, and utilities and is always under-supported. Finally, and most importantly, you can lift us up in prayer to the Creator of the Universe on a daily basis. Prayer is the tool that keeps us going.

So you see, there are many ways YOU can make a difference. Someone has said, “God gave us life to spend, not to keep. . . .” Are you spending your life for eternal values? You CAN make a difference.
