The Secret of Contentment for the Entrepreneur

Contentment is the deep sense of satisfaction I experience at the end of an exhausting day because

I am doing the work I was meant to do.

I know contentment is not the absence of struggle or fear, nor is it the abundance of wisdom or wealth.

Contentment is not an emotion or a skill. It is hard work and tough decisions. It is perseverance.

But most of all, contentment is a decision to do business honorably.

Contentment for the entrepreneur is a commitment…

What is Contentment?

I Follow the 3 Enduring Laws of Marketing

My Commitment

These three laws of marketing endure over time, and even though they are meant for every business, they are especially important to my business. I trust them because they are not subject to changes in technology, current trends or methods of communication.

Following the three laws ensures that I will earn the respect of my customers, suppliers, employees, peers and family.

These laws give me confidence that I never have to feel pushy or overly self-promotional, because following the laws allows me to serve the world around me.

Others may scoff or reject these laws because they are afraid. They are afraid they will not make enough money or earn fame.

It is the wise entrepreneur who understands that without these three laws there can be no contentment.

People must trust me before they do business with me.

The fastest way to earn trust is to build a quality product or deliver a superior service.

A great product is my best branding and marketing.

It is more powerful to let others say good things about me.

My full-time business is to meet needs. It is not to sell stuff.

I will surprise others by doing more than I promise.

I seek to understand the needs of my customer. I will not pretend my needs are his.

When I’m wrong, I will say so without offering excuses.

I know that clarity in my words builds trust.

The Law of Trust

When I provide value, it changes the way I conduct myself. I am confident and eager to help.

When I offer value, it changes the way people see me. They see me as an expert, a problem solver and a necessity.

To understand value I must express my customer’s problems better than they can.

People buy value not features.

Value is dependent on invention in the streets, not in a conference room.

I can never forget that part of value is to make it easy to do business with me.

There is always room for improvement.

The Law of Value

People want to connect with me, not a brand.

I must listen empathetically to understand.

Connection is dependent on my consistency and frequency of communication.

I collaborate with my customers.

I celebrate and share my customer’s stories of success.

The Law of Connection

I’m Manny Garza, and I spent years as a high-paid, stressed-out marketing

executive until I got cancer and laid off within 18 months. Not wanting to return to

the rat race, I discovered how the three enduring laws of marketing can be used to

turn blogging into a joyful experience. I’m finally doing what I was born to do by

teaching serious bloggers and entrepreneurs how to win fans and customers for life.

To find out more about my journey from a senior marketing executive woking on

one of the world’s largest brands (Toyota) to a full-time blogger,
