Previously…I gave an overview of prospecting with posture and confidence and promised to elaborate more on each of the 5 steps in more detail, individually.

Here is the third step…

3. Don't take it personal

There was a song in the 90's by Monica, "Just one of those days... don't take it personal". You may or may not remember it, but it was a pretty catchy

tune. But anyway…

That's what you have to keep in mind when talking to people about your business.

Sometimes you may run into someone who isn't having the best day and they may get a

little snippy with you or...

You may connect with someone who has a

REALLY bad taste in their mouth for what you're offering, ESPECIALLY if it involves

Network Marketing/MLM! Many have had bad experiences with that and thus…

When they find out that's what you're doing, they immediately get on guard and want to

argue that it's a scam or that…

"Those things don't work!“

But what I want YOU to keep in mind is that…

If they decide it's not for them,

don't YOU get all bent out of shape and take it personally.

They're not turning YOU down or saying no to YOU, it's not personal.

Also…

Don't take it personal if they quit!

And also remember that oftentimes…

"No" really means "Not now". Sometimes people will say no, but later on (months, years even) they'll

come back and say that NOW they are ready.

As you can see from the example above, "Sha" and I had connected some time back

and nothing became of it at that time. But then…

She came back to me to indicate that it wasn't a good time for her but NOW, she's ready and she

joined me and has already started making money!

So again, don't take it personal if and when people turn your down. Just keep moving on to the next person because eventually SOMEONE will see the value in what you have to offer and

will decide to say, "YES!"

Don't expend a whole lot of energy trying to convince someone who clearly does not see the value in what you

have. Instead, focus more on finding (or positioning yourself to be found by) those who do see that value.
