The Ridgewood LinkRidgewood in the Yard

We do not want anyone to be hurt in our neighborhood. As a service to our residents, we are offering the following tips for decreasing the chance of being injured while operating your lawn mower: All Types of Lawnmowers: 1) Talk to your family and children about the dangers of lawn mowers; 2) Make it a rule that when the kids hear the lawn mower running, they must be indoors; 3) know where your kids are at all times while mowing the lawn. Remember, kids do not like to stay in any one place for a very long time. Keep them out of the yard and under supervision. Push Mowers: Be aware of age limits! The American Academy of Pediatrics says no child under the age of 12 should ever use a push mower. Riding (or Ride-On) Mowers: 1) Driving a ride-on mower is like driving a car, so no kid under 16 should operate a ride-on lawn mower; 2) Never give a child a ride on a mower. The child can fall off and get hit by the blades, which are spinning at up to 200 mph; 3) Forty percent of all injuries are caused by falling or jumping from mowers. Also, giving a ride sends the wrong message: that lawn mowers are f u n ; 4) Disengage the blade when backing up on a riding mower.

The Ridgewood LinkRoast Chicken – Rotisserie Style

Submitted by “The Secret Chef”DESCRIPTION: Ever wish you could get that restaurant style rotisserie chicken at home? Well, with minimal preparation and about 5 hours cooking time (great for the weekends!) you can! I don’t bother to baste the bird, though some like to for the fi rst hour. The pan juices always caramelize at the bottom, and the chicken will turn golden brown...fall-off-the-bone good!INGREDIENTS: 4 TSP Salt 2 TSP Paprika 1 TSP Onion Powder 1 TSP Dried Thyme 1 TSP White Pepper ½ TSP Cayenne Pepper ½ TSP Black Pepper ½ TSP Garlic Powder 2 Onions, quartered 2 (4 pound) whole ChickensDIRECTIONS: 1. In a small bowl, mix together salt, paprika, onion powder, thyme, white pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Remove and discard giblets from chicken. Rinse chicken cavity, and pat dry with paper towel. Rub each chicken inside and outside with the spice mixture. Place 1 onion (quartered) into the cavity of each chicken. Place chickens in a resealable bag or double wrap with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight, or for at least 4 – 6 hours. 2. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. 3. Place both chickens into a roasting pan. Bake uncovered for 5 hours, to a minimum internal temperature of 180 degrees F. Let the chickens stand for 10 minutes before carving. YIELD: 2 Whole Chickens
