• The budget is biennial, which means it is prepared every two years.

• The state distributes money to different parts of the government. (Here’s a few examples)

• The Texas Constitution requires a balanced budget, which means that the state cannot spend more money than they have.

• Texas’ 2010-11 state budget, passed by the Texas Legislature in 2009, includes more than $182 billion, and provides funding for dozens of agencies and hundreds of programs. LIKE WHAT??
