City Displays Sewer Plugs Awareness Campaign

The city of Cyrus has come up with a creative way to bring awareness to its residents on items not to flush down thesewer.

The city has a display of different types of commonly flushed items to show residents thatthese items do not break down in the sewer system and can easily plug up and cause problems for the city sewer system. The city has this display in the Community Room at City Hall (shown at left and below). Sometimesa visual of what’s actually happening to theseproducts helps residents understand the

importance of not flushing the items in the first place.

Need more flushable education materials?Visit MRWA’s website at www.mrwa.comand search “wipes”.
