MORNING ASSEMBLY

The beginning of the new academic year saw a change in the morning assembly. The assembly

roster is prepared in such a way that all the students get a chance to speak and present their

ideas. We have class assembly and teachers‟ assembly once a week.

The Bible reading and message is followed by news and a Power Point presentation, which

revolves around various aspects of moral discipline, unique facts, inspiring quotes and

international day celebrations.

SCIENCE PROJECT-CLASS IV (A)

We the students of IV-A had set up an experiment on how a seed grows. The class

was divided into four groups A, B, C and D. We were given seeds by our teacher. We

filled a container with mud and sowed seeds in it and watered it every day. Over the

course of two to three days the seeds began to sprout.

We were taught by our science teacher that the seed is the house of a future plant. We

were happy to see the shoot of the baby plants, with the seed coat protecting the

tender leaves. We were very happy to see the baby plant grow.

Every day we keep watching the growth of the seeds and are waiting to learn more.

Colouring…….. Wow! Smithies love it.

Art competition for the Smithies was held on the 10th

June 2017 at Smith Cottage.

The Theme of this competition was “Inviting the Monsoon Season” in Ketti Valley.

„Water‟ is always one thing a child enjoys playing with and loves to get drenched.

„Monsoon‟ is water, water, water ……….. everywhere and anytime in Ketti. So to welcome this

season, we had the Art Competition based on it.

The competition started at 9.30 am and continued till 11.00 am. Each class had a different picture to

colour. The children were very excited, since it was the first competition and their favourite one.

Each and every child did a fantastic job. The class teachers were there to guide them but the

combination of colours used in each child‟s picture was unique and it was their own choice. Well

done Smithies!

The Art Teacher was the judge for this competition and the results are as follows:

Being A Book

I am a book,

Teaching people how to cook,

But not knowing my name,

I have a good frame,

Besides being a book,

I wished to be a cook.

As he went through my pages,

I was bought by Mr. Tejas.

My journey from a sack,

Now, I am going on a vehicle`s back.

Bye, bye cook,

With love, your best book.

Down the River Yamuna

Down the River Yamuna I rowed my boat,

As I had no companion I took along a goat.

The goat and I rowed all day and night,

But there were no boats or town in sight.

One day I noticed a hole in the boat with a blink of an eye,

I prayed to God and looked at the sky,

To help the goat but no help was nigh.

I threw him out of the boat

And then realised he could not float.

The goat cried as it wanted help,

Then I was caught in a kelp

It pulled me down, I started to scream

And then I woke up – it was dream

Acting

Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Ajith Kumar and Vijay Joseph are famous actors, but what

have they done so big to earn their fame? Why can`t we?

When a class one kid does mischief and tries to get away with it that is when he tends

to act. We act to get away from our mistakes, but when a person takes that to the next

level and becomes talented at it, that is when he tries to get on stage.

The answer for the first question – “What have they done so big to earn their fame?”

is that they overcame their stage fear. Of course, the actors act in front of cameras, not

a crowd of energetic and eager people, what does that have to do with stage fear?

Stage fear is that fear that arises when a person is going to perform in front of a

crowd, not only on stage. Even when those famous actors and stars perform in front

of a crowd they are not nervous, at all. There is only one thing that we can do to get

over that fear. That is to never feel that we are getting embarrassed. When we feel that

we are getting embarrassed we feel nervous and think of getting away from that place

fast. Actors also make mistakes like us but they learn from it and do not repeat it.

The answer for – “Why can‟t we?” always lies within us.

Adventures at Laidlaw

Imagine walking into the woods, quit as ever so silent apart from the cracking of

branches and the little whispering of fear of what might happen soon, lifting up the

branches to the next side and Oh my God! Run for your life there are bisons! RUN

RUN RUN! And from another side WE‟RE SCARING THEM, THEY‟LL CHARGE!

But no! Everyone screamed like life is at an end. Well it almost really was, all of us

climbing, falling, slipping. That was hilarious.”Ahhh!!!! I don‟t wanna die, I need to

live, I‟m young, I need to get

married”.

I‟m sure that was something that ran through our mind. Well, honestly I thought I‟d

meet God soon but it so happened that I escaped death. Coming back we somehow

tried to climb, but that slope had to be so steep! The girls climbed up pulling branches

and the rest of us pushing them up. Well, I did look forward to some muscles.

Anyway, some of us being as selfish as we could get, tried another path and once

again, OH MY GOD THERE‟S ANOTHER BISON, there was chaos, screaming

slipping, falling all over. REALLY FUNNY! Yet very scary, but that Bison in fear ran

for its life and thanks to me, OH Sorry! All of us for the screams that scared it away

(although that is exactly what we were NOT supposed to do). Now! This is

something! Call it an experience. Something GEORGIANS enjoy. Proud to be a

Georgian and I‟m pretty sure you must be too.

LIGHT IN THE DARK

Caila had been standing under the bus station for nearly an hour. As the minutes

ticked by, the rain grew stronger and stronger. For two sodden miles of the road there

was nothing to be seen except the fading light of the street lamp.

She sat down on the steel seats and took out her smart phone. The display gleamed

with a large notification, “low battery, 10%”. She frowned and put away the phone

and began to hum politely to herself. As a huge gush of wind brushed past her, she

looked at her wristwatch. 10:30. It was getting late and there was no sign of any

vehicle along that road, for a second she hoped that one of her friends would call her

but the low battery on her phone cancelled out that possibility.

Ten minutes later her phone screen came to life with an unknown message and it was

just a single word “pray”.

Initially confused, she tried to find out who sent her the message, but decided to

follow the text. She put down the phone and began to pray for some miracle to

happen.

After five long minutes of devotion, she eagerly looked from side to side hoping that

either the rain would stop or a vehicle would pass by but neither happened.

She sat there cursing her luck and was about to break down when she felt something

by her leg. An umbrella. How come she hadn‟t seen that there before? She

immediately picked it up resolved to walk all the way home. She took out the phone

once again switched on the torch and began to make her way home.

When she was half way through her phone shut down and left her in complete

darkness. Shivering at the thought of the things that could go bad in the night she

began to chant a prayer. When she finished a bright light appeared at the edge of the

street, and muttering the words of thanks she walked on briskly. She, however, did

not seem to notice a large man holding the lantern under the shade of a commercial

shop, hoping that the rain would stop. She reached home twenty minutes later and her

fearful parents were happy that their only daughter had reached home safely.

That night before settling in for the night, she told her parents what had happened and

highlighted the “light in the dark”, her parents being virtuous and faithful

immediately started a prayer of thanks.

The next day when she called up work saying she couldn‟t attend, the reply surprised

her. “Oh Caila, were you stuck in the rain too? Even the Boss, called me saying he

was stuck at a bus station all night because some lunatic had taken away his umbrella

when he was returning to collect it after purchasing a lantern. Crazy right?”

An Appeal to the Lord

I come before you today,

And there's just one thing that I want to say;

Thank you, Lord

For all You've given to me, for all the blessing that

I cannot see

Thank you, Lord;

With a grateful heart, with a song of praise, With

an outstretched arm, I will bless your name.

Thank you, Lord, I just want to thank you Lord,

Thank you, Lord, I just want to thank you Lord;

Thank You, Lord.

For all you've done in my life,

You took my darkness and gave me your light

Thank you, Lord

You took my sin and my shame,

You took my sickness and healed all my pain

Thank you, Lord

With a grateful heart, with a song of praise, With

an outstretched arm, I will bless your name.

Thank you, Lord, I just want to thank you Lord,

Thank you, Lord, I just want to thank you Lord;

Thank You, Lord.
