Which is your dream city and where would you most like to live? If it is somewhere warm, beautiful, and most importantly, a city with some incredible cars driving around, you are a person we would like to meet! The two main cities that compete, in our minds, are Monaco and Dubai. Being very far from the UK and relatively strict with car spotters at the moment, moment, Dubai will not fit the bill. So let’s talk about Monaco! What is it that makes Monaco such a renowned place amongst petrol heads? It is viewed by most of us as some sort of paradise on earth.

As Monaco is so small; only about two square miles, with a population of about 50,000 people, it is a very crowded place indeed. What makes Monaco stand out is the wealth that is on display here. Among the 50,000 residents there are an estimated 80 billionaires. This is a lot for such a small place!

FamousFamous for its Casinos and Hotels, Monaco has grown famous more recently in an entirely differ-ent world, the world of luxury cars. Some say that at almost every corner there is an amazing car. How-ever is this true or is it actually a myth?

Having grown up in and around Monaco I can vouch for the fact that there are wonderful fast and unusually luxurious cars to be seen almost everywhere and at any time.

ItIt is common knowledge that in most cities the ‘rare metal’ only really comes out during special events or during the summer. However in Monaco it seems to be all year round. Of course there are maybe more hyper-cars driving around during the summer, but it is easy to find incred-ible cars at any time of the year. The brilliant thing about Monaco is that most of the cars you see around the streets are actually registered here, thus meaning they are not just passing through but rather here to stay.

MonacoMonaco is so small that even in January or Febru-ary if you drive around for a day, you are bound to find a selection of Ferrari 458s, McLaren Mp4s, Audi R8s, and tons of Porsches all over the place. If you are really in the mood to see some nice cars then you can always venture into the car parks, where you are sure to find something amazing. YouYou can pick pretty much any car park. The Casino, Metropole or Grimaldi car parks are known for having nice cars in them.

Very often they are just parked like any other car, with no covers or gates protecting them.

By now you are probably thinking, well why is it that I only really hear about Monaco during the summer or during the more famous events like the Monaco Grand Prix or Top Marques?

ItIt is true that in Monaco there are two main ‘hot periods’ when all the best and the most supercars come out. During both Top Marques (a supercar show in April) and the Monaco Grand Prix in May, you can find an array of almost any super-car you can think of. Over the years we have seen a huge variety of incredible cars and an increas-ing amount of the greatest hyper-cars driving around the streets of Monaco. This year we spot-ted the Porsche 918 Spyder. At the last Grand Prix in late May 2012, we spotted one of the first Koenigsegg Agera R’s seen out on the road. The particular car in question was only two days old at the time. Every year during these events we see several Bugatti’s occasionally a Pagani or Koenig-segg, and a few highly tuned Italian supercars here and there.

ThisThis year was no different. Top Marques Monaco 2013 coupled with the Tennis Masters attracted many exceptional cars to Monaco. We saw two Paganis, a Ferrari Enzo, a Bugatti Centenaire, several DMC tuned Lamborghini’s, several Hamann cars, Novitec Ferrari’s and the list goes on! HopefullyHopefully the Grand Prix will surpass the high bar that Top Marques has set for this year.

SoSo after many years in Monaco what have we learned? Well simply put, if you like cars then you will love Monaco. There is no place better for seeing such a variety of incredible cars all year round, from the latest and greatest to the rare classics. They are all waiting to be spotted some-where within the two square miles, it is just a questionquestion of knowing where to look and keeping your eyes and ears open!

RetroMobile Paris – 6-10 Feb.So it’s a cold wintery Sunday morning and I’m walking down the Champs-Élysées at sunrise when I spot a bunch of classic cars at a set of traffic lights, at first I didn’t think much of it I continued to walk towards the Arc de Triomphe. Moments later a Mustang and Corvette flew past me with their rumbling V8’s, which luckily I man-agedaged to snap a picture. More and more cars started to come down the Avenue and it wasn’t until a yellow NYC caught my attention I then saw a plaque with “Parade RetroMobile” on the front. I continued to take pictures and just enjoy what was going on, a bunch of rare classics drive up and down, it wasn’t something that I was used to seeing. It was only until I spoke to one of the

drivers that I found out that this event was actu-ally happening since Wednesday. The RetroMobile is an event that takes place once a year and this year it celebrated its 38th year. This is a major international event in Paris, which is the first show of the season in February devoted to classic cars. This is held in Porte de Versailles exhibition centre. The exhibition centre is home to 400 exhibitors with over 500 cars on show and 100 clubs in attendance. cars on show and 100 clubs in attendance. One of the highlights of the event apart from the many car vendors, clubs and federations, event organizers, automobilia vendors is something that all eagerly awaited by top vintage car special-ists is the “Artcurial Motorcars Retromobile Auction.”

Page 19: The Supercar Kids - Issue 6 - May 2013

RetroMobile Paris – 6-10 Feb.This year the auction raked in a whopping 14.6 million Euros with a crowd of more than 3,000 people making it a record year with the largest amount of new bidders to date.

ThisThis year there were a total of 115 cars and 25 motorcycles on offer with the highlight being the 1936 Talbot-Lago T150C which was sold for 1,461,800 Euros, the history behind this particu-lar vehicle is quite impressive, it has featured in events such as the Le Mans and in recent historic racing making it desirable knowing that it remainsremains eligible for all major events not only in France but internationally too.

The next Retromoble shall be held between 5-9 February 2014, it is definitely something worth going to visit especially if you are into your classic vehicles. I defiantly think that it is an event that I would love to visit in the future, personally im finding that I have a soft spot for classic cars recently. Classic cars were built in a time where electronicselectronics didn’t interfere, they were just raw and fun to drive, that is probably why most petrol-heads that I know would choose a Ferrari F40 over say the La-Ferrari.

The Dom Reilly range of luxury travel accessories was launched this month and we were invited for an exclusive viewing ahead of the release. A venture from a group of executives with roots in the Williams Formula 1 team the accessories have been created out of necessity and experience of travelling the globe and working in F1 with the international jet-set.international jet-set.

Shareholders include Dominic Reilly, ex Head of Marketing at Williams, Patrick Head, Co-Founder of Williams, Michael Caines, an acclaimed chef boasting two Michelin stars, and Martin Bartle, an experienced eCommerce and online marketing professional specialising in the luxury and fashion sectors. With a pedigree like this it is no surprise thethe inaugural collection is impressive and draws on the relevant experience from each partner to create the sophistication and elegance as well as practicality boasted by the range. I am sure you can find a piece which compliments your lifestyle, whether it is the clever watch roll for transporting your favourite timepieces or the helmet bag for track days.track days. What sets this collection apart is the thought, inno-vation, and technology that has gone into creating it. All the pieces encompass different aspects of technology that can be found in a Formula 1 car. The cases use a layer of high density foam used

in the lining of the cockpit and absorbs up to 97% of an impact. This provides protection to your elec-tronics and peace of mind from knocks during a hectic travelling lifestyle. The zips are highly engi-neered and polished before being electroplated with microscopic layers of metal. This is much like the process of DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating which is used in F1 gearboxes, reducing friction and ensuring smoothness. The leather used is treated with a similar hydrophobic coating found on a crash helmet visor, and means water will bead off the leather like a freshly waxed car.

It is this attention to detail that means it truly lives up to its ‘engineered for style’ motto and is essen-tial for anyone that appreciates innovative engi-neering integrated into their daily routine.

Aesthetically, the HPE800 will seem more aggres-sive than the standard car, with a new hood air intake, CarbonAero body package to increase down-force, a lower front splitter and wider side vents. Additionally, redesigned rear apron and diffuser help the cooling of the transmission and exhaust system.

A new set of matte black wheels and luxurious Alcantara, carbon fibre and leather interior are likely to be installed, increasing the uniqueness of this model. These upgrades can be added to an existing MP4-12C, or shipped from Hennessey directly. Pricing is yet to be announced, but estimates place the HPE800 at around the $280,000 markmark (£190,000), so start saving those pennies now!

Born out of Mercedes’ successful Le Mans racers of the early 50’s, the aluminium bodied 300SL has gone down as one of the all time classic road cars. First shown at the 1954 New York Motor Show, the distinctive ‘Gull Wing’ doored 300SL was said to be the world’s fastest production car with a claimed 165mph. The fuel injected 3 litre flat 6 pushed out at least 240bhp for unrivalled straight line urge, although handling had a tendency towards oversteer.

1400 examples were built from 54-57 until being superseded by the more practical Roadster, which stayed in production for another 6 years.

1954Mercedes 300SL Gullwing

1961Jaguar E-Type MK1

The legendary E-Type was launched to universal acclaim at the 1961 Geneva motor show offering sensational 150mph performance at a reasonable price. The Coupe and Convertible’s gorgeous lines were penned by aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, making this the first Jaguar not personally designed by founder William Lyons.

1965 saw capacity increase to 4.2 litres, along with servo assisted brakes and an all synchro gearbox, followed in 1966 by the high rooflined 2+2 coupe. The Mark II was launched in 1968 featuring more uprated brakes and optional automatic gearbox and power steering.

1962Ferrari 250 GTO

The sublime 250GTO (Gran Tourismo Omologato) remains the most prized of the classis Ferraris with examples fetching well into seven figures at auction (one example was said to have fetched £10million in the early 1990’s). A sobering thought when considering that the cost of a new one in 1962 was just £6000!

A 300bhp V12 engine brings race car performance to the GTO to evoke memories of a class win at Le Mans in the early 60’s. The timeless lines were created by Pininfarina, enhanced by Scaglietti, and bore now classic Ferrari styling cues of rounded tail lamps and vertical side vents, not to mention the subtly integrated rear spoiler. A restyle took place for the 1964 model year.

Just 39 of these all time classics were made, helping to keep prices astronomically high.

1960Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato

Intended as a race car, but perfectly road legal, the stunning Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato set new benchmarks for power and performance in the early 1960’s. Built in response to customer requests following their 1959 Le Mans win, Aston Martin began their ongoing relationship with Italian stylists Zagato in creating a new smoother body for the already stylish DB4GT. Power was increased to a hefty 314bhp - almost unheard of at the time. Coupled with a svelte 1200kg kerb weight, the GT possessed exceptional speed and acceleration.

Only 19 examples of this rare supercar were ever made, out of only 94 DB4GTs in total. With mint examples now fetching close to £1 million, the significance and desirability of the Zagato remains timeless.

1966Lamborghini Miura

At it’s 1966 Geneva launch the Miura shocked the motoring world. Gorgeous Bertone styled bodywork coupled with the world’s first mid-engined road car changed the face of what people would expect from a sports car. The supercar was born.

Named after a famous Spanish fighting Bull, the Miura was developed in record time by a young, gifted Lamborghini team. For all its greatness however, the Muira was not the perfect car. As high speeds were approached the rear weight bias and streamlined bodywork caused the front of the car to lift. Nevertheless, the Muira will go down in history as an all time classic.

THE RANGE ROVER dynasty has a new heir; the five door SUV Estate. The Merdad Collec-tion Team believes that the Coupe version of this type should have also been on offer, just like the very first Range Rover built in 1971. Thus we have gone back to our drawing board to do just that. We call it the Range Rover Highland GTC.

By adding dramatic and beautiful design along with high performance, the all-new 2013 Merdad Coupe is a fitting follow-up to our Porsche Cayenne 902 Coupe, launched in 2010.Merdad adds, “Our involvement in the Porsche Cayenne Coupe project gave us invaluable knowledge through research and development, which we are now applying to the Range Rover Highland GTC, to deliver a perfect supercaperfect supercar, inside and out”.

We have released official pictures and specs of the new package with prices for the 2 and 4 door versions. The most noticeable change to this vehicle is the new larger doors, a complete overhaul of the interior, and an aerody-namic body kit. You will only love what it is going to be done.

The wheel arches, similarly styled to our Cayenne Coupe, are extend by 92mm overall in width, this further emphasises the front and rear axles. This flows in with an extended series of side-skirt running panels, and twin air-vents to give the SUV flair. There will also be a full carbon rear bumper, diffuser and tailpipe deflectors, along with an extended roof spoiler and a smaller spoiler belowbelow the tailgate. The interior will be as equally remark-able, which will include 4 sports seats or luxury seats.

Additionally, we have implemented a sport suspension module, which will bring the SUV 40mm closer to the ground, while the Range Rover's 5.0-liter V8 has been increased from 510, to 700 Bhp. Additionally, we will include bigger front and rear sport brakes to accustom the dramatic engine upgrade, a custom exhaust and your choice of 22" or 23" Merdad design wheels.TheThe Merdad Range Rover Coupe comes in four versions:1- Range Rover 3.0 Litre: $209,0002- HSE 4.4 Litre: $228,0003- Supercharged 5.0L: $239,0004- 700 GTC Range Rover Coupe Racing 4 Seater: $485.000

MerdadMerdad builds cars that do not compromise on luxury, if there were any doubt that the new Range Rover is the ultimate of a luxury car in SUV family, Merdad Collection’s edition may have managed to take away all those doubts.

WWe can't wait to see this car stand boastfully next to a Merdad Porsche Cayenne Coupe, and alongside a Merdad Lamborghini. All in good time.

“We’re going to get another red Testarossa soon to go with the black one, so we’ll be the only dealer with two Countaches and two Testarossas.”TheseThese are the words I heard as I squeezed between a 25th Anniversary Countach and a stunning white Murcielago roadster, sur-rounded by a plethora of other gleaming exotics.

The man who spoke them is Adam Kennedy, Manager of Amari Supercars.Based on near the M6 Motorway in Preston, the supercar dealership is owned by Sheikh Amari, who has been involved with the supercar business for longer than most. “I’ve had my nappies changed in a Lambo-rghini”, he said.

Their showroom boasts impressive stock of around 60 cars ranging from a ‘normal’ Porsche 911 turbo to a Carrera GT. Whereas ordinary Ferraris are sold on a regular basis, Amari have stocked cars ranging from valu-able to the extremely rare. The list includes a Bugatti Veyron, Porsche 356 Speedster, twotwo Ferrari Enzos, a Maserati MC12 Corsa, Gumpert Apollo and a number of F40s. They currently hold the lowest milage example of an RHD Lamborghini Countach in the world.

As for future stock, they will be one of the first in the UK to receive the Ferrari F12 Ber-linetta.

Amari do more than just sell cars. They own an approved service centre which caters to all luxury and prestige vehicles. All stock

undergoes an evaluation and service before sale, including a detail and valet. “We aim to sell a car just how it came out of the factory, only with more miles” explains Adam. Cars and services both come with a warranty.

NowNow that you have a gleaming supercar, why not give it a personal touch? The show-room offer a selection of private number plates- at a price. D14 BLO will set you back a cool £30,000. However, there are cheaper options for the budget conscious buyer.

Along with selling and servicing, Amari have tried their hand at customizing a super-car. Based on a Gallardo, the Invidia 540 is a unique conversion resembling a Gallardo STS. Upgrades include a wide-body kit made of fiberglass and carbon fiber,

What is better than to take advantage of our Canadian trip to make a bend by NEW YORK for one of the biggest automotive show of America. It represents after Detroit the biggest showcase of the United States. And what is better than plated on a wall, the Ameri-can automobile icon, the new Chevrolet corvette C7 Stingray.

In the entry, Shelby and Aston Martin stands announce the color, Super Snake and Shelby 1000 on one side and V8 Vantage and DB9 racecar on the other side.

ThisThis Autoshow have been the first world presentation for different models as Jaguar XKR-S GT of 550HP, the SRT Viper Time attack of 650HP or the intended Subaru Concept. And also the new generations of supercars : Chevrolet with a gigantic stand took advantage of it to present the Camaro Z/28 which will make 500 HP and will be a competitor of the Mustang Boss 302 of 444HP.

TheThe star of this autoshow was undoubtedly the brand new Range Rover who arrived with Daniel Craig at the steering wheel. James Bond have receive 1M$ for the video presentation in New York. Reasonable!

ComingComing from England, McLaren was present, with a stand less exclusive than in Geneva, with two sublimate Mp4 12C surround-ing one Mp4 12C GT Can-am sold in only 30 units with a V8 of 630HP. Aston Martin furnished there stand with the new DB9, a Vanquish and the new Rapide S. At the opposite of Geneva, Lam-borghini had just an Aventador and a Gallardo Performante of a red glistening, the whole just behind a « simple » Bugatti veyron 16.4. From the german manufacturers, Porsche came to present the GT3 version of 991 to the American world. Among all Audi RS7, RS5, S7 or S8, the only one who restraint our attention was the R8 Plus blue mat. Mercedes came from Stuttgart with the last models prepared by AMG with C63 edition 507, the CLA 45 or the E63 S Wagon.

The biggest surprise for us was in trucks hall. We have seen the Mansory and RTW motoring stand. They have prepared a huge Mercedes CLS, a G63 AMG and a Porsche Panamera Turbo but the star of the pit was the Ferrari 458 Mansory Siracusa #3, a gift for the show from Los Angeles.

To conclude, the New York international Autoshow is inevitable in United States of America.

TKO M ANSO RY UK EVENTOn 25th March TKO (Total Kustom Organiza-tion) held an invite-only event celebrating 1 of 2 great achievements. The first was to introduce their latest addition to the LMM (London Motor Museum) a brand new workshop dedicated to customizing prestigious vehicles. As you may or may not know LMM is the only custom car mmuseum in Europe with everything from the 50’s up to the present, from American Lowrid-ers to a Fendi interior Cadillac Escalade. Sec-ondly, the event was to announce themselves as the only official dealer in the United Kingdom for Mansory.

Mansory was founded in 1989 by its owner Kourosh Mansory. Mr. Mansory has spent many years in England where his passion for British cars led him to commit himself to auto-mobile values such as tradition, craftsmanship and well-engineered technology.Although Mansory first started off in Munich, Germany, in 2007 in extended its product portfolio after taking over the business division

from Swiss tuning company Rinspeed and moved its headquaters to Zumikon at lake Zurich, Switzerland. TToday Mansory concentrate on modifying vehicles such as Bentley, Rolls Royce, BMW, Audi, Mercedes and the odd Lamborghini such as the Carbonado, which was seen at the Geneva Motorshow last month. Mansory specialise in using the most precious materials on the planet to make the vehicle stand out frfrom the rest.

The night started off in the new workshop, where around 100 guests enjoyed a cham-pagne reception with a view of some of great cars that were on display, including a Lambo-rghini Aventador and a Koenigsegg CCR. Here, the guests mingled and caught up with one another. This was then followed by an introduction speech from Elo (Owner of LMM) where he talked about what they have achieved, thanked all the people thank has helped bring TKO to the position that they are

Page 39: The Supercar Kids - Issue 6 - May 2013

TKO M ANSO RY UK EVENTat today. He then cut the ribbon and announced the workshop officially open.GuestsGuests then had the opportunity to sit in the vehicles and take pictures. There was also a rev war which broke out. After this guests were invited to Rose Club in Central London for the after party. The guests all chose different meth-ods of transport to get there, we had some take a taxi and had some race a Gumpert Apollo alongsidealongside the Lamborghini Aventador and an Audi R8. It was a great night where all close friends partied until the early hours of the morn-ing.

A lot of time and effort has been put into getting TKO to where they are at today, I know for a fact Monty Lal (Marketing Director), who is a close friend of mine, worked extremely hard to make everything run smoothly for the event.

TheThe workshop is now open to the public to view on top of everything else at LMM. The great

thing about TKO you just do not know what vehicle you are going to bump into on the day of the visit , and if your lucky you may even bump into a celebrity there, as TKO customize a lot of vehicles for many high profile celebri-ties.

TKOTKO also cater for many events to from photo shoots, video shoots, car club meets, dinners and more. For more information about this or anything to do with TKO or Mansory then please contact Monty Lal via E-mail [email protected], or through the Face-book groups for London Motor Museum or TKO MansoTKO Mansory UK.

BEST OF THE BEST: AVENTADOR 200MPH CHALLENGE

Page 41: The Supercar Kids - Issue 6 - May 2013

It's not every day of the week you get to push a car to the limits, in this case taking Lamborghini's newest, 700hp beast down the runway at Brunngthorpe with the target top speed of over 200mph.WhenWhen the call came in from Best of the Best (hp://www.botb.com), most famously known for their airport supercar compe ons but now deviat-ing into all sorts of compe ons, to join them for their 200mph Challenge day it was not one to refuse.

With great excitement and ancipaon I drove to Brunngthorpe located in the centre of England and home to a 2.5 mile runway perfect for the occassion, unsure enrely of how the day would shape up. As an experience package we met at nearby Kilworth Hotel for lunch and an opportunity to meet the other drivers for the day, a mix of previous supercar compcompe on winners and those who had won the experience oung for the day either directly through Best of the Best or adverts placed elsewhere.

Following an introducon from William Hindmarch, founder and CEO of Best of the Best, we convoyed towards Brunngthorpe to be greeted by a Lambo-rghini Gallardo LP570 Performante, a Ferrari 458 Spider and the Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador. The cars in queson belonging to ecurie25 Supercar Club (hp://www.ecurie25.com), the longest established andand largest supercar club worldwide, now with 9 clubs spread across the globe.

To scope out the circuit, quick laps in a Range Rover Evoque as passengers showed us the line we'd need to take on the inial turn-in to the main straight in order to reach the maximum speed. This followed by taking to the driver's seat in the Lamborghini Perfor-mante to adjust to the feel of driving a supercar, and gaining valuable pracce at the inial corner. It was notnot a high-speed run but more to find one's feet, understand what was required and prepare for the rapid movement from the accelerator to brake pedal

Page 42: The Supercar Kids - Issue 6 - May 2013

that would be required upon reaching the late stages of the runway.

TheThe first true test of speed, the Ferrari 458 Spider, a mind-blowing car by all acounts with a claimed top speed of 202mph. Jumping into the seat with an instructor beside me the excitement was flowing, never previously had I drive over approximately 160mph so without a doubt this was going to be something new. I was fairly confident having been on the line in my test run and ready to go.

TheThe 458 has the uncanny ability to not let you realise quite how fast it's going, clean gear changes and seamless acceleraon have the dial rising and rising, 100mph, 120mph, 140mph, the speed increases, 170mph, 175mph, 180mph, the surroundings are flying by but we're looking dead ahead to keep the car straight. 182mph, 184mph, and BRAKE, firmly announces my passenger. Not bad for a first go and on par with the go and on par with the fastest runs for the day in the 458,

now I'm le even more excited for the 200mph run in the Aventador!

Regrouping for a briefing, we're reminded that this is a challenge, it's not easy to reach 200mph as too slow on the turn-in and we'll never make it, too fast and tracon control could kick in making us lose a few valuable miles per hour.JumpingJumping into the hotseat of the orange Aventador, with serious quan es of adrenaline flowing, I'm trying to run through all that's required to make the target achievable. The first straight adjusng to the car, the movement in the pedals, and the final corner arrives fast, am I on the right line? Am I at the right speed? Check and Check. Around the corner we go and foot down, go go go!

It'sIt's true what they say about the Aventador, it's savage! The noise of that 6.5l V12, the drama from the violent gear changes, you feel everything about it while powering away. In what seemed like no me at all we were already hing

Page 43: The Supercar Kids - Issue 6 - May 2013

hing 170mph with the digital readout connuing to rise quickly. 180mph, 190mph and my eyes caught a glimpse towards the cone that marked the point at which the brakes would need to come on, had I not been quick enough on the turn in? 200 shouts the instructor, I hadn't even realised as at these speeds your aenon is 100% on the road in front of you, there is no room for error. With a lile room to spaspare we got to 203mph, 327km/h, before firmly pung on the anchors and bringing the car down to 50mph to exit the ght right corner off the end of the runway.

Buzzing with excitement I hurried to watch back the in-car video to see my achievement again, did I really just drive at 200 miles per hour? You can watch my experience day here too: hp://bit.ly/200mphChallenge

I must say a huge thanks to Best of the Best for making the day possible and of course to ecurie25 for providing the cars.

Joining the "200 mile per hour club" is something very special and I feel priveleged to have done so.

Best of the Best have two compe on winners per month, you never know but you could be the next to drive away in a brand new supercar. hp://www.botb.comArcle by Tim BurtonPhotography by James Roberts - Sportscorner

Audi R18 e-tron quattroOur photographer in Italy, Daniele Abbondanza caught the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro in action during testing at Monza. The car in question has already become a legend becoming the first hybrid to take victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

TheThe R18 e-tron will again compete in the 2013 round of the event, incorporating all sorts of new technology, most specifically by continuing to be the first Audi race car that is not entirely powered by a traditional combustion engine.

ManyMany details of the Audi R18 e-tron quattro were reworked for the 2013 season. The flywheel accumulator is even more efficient. The MGU now produces over 2 x 80 kW instead of the previous 2 x 75 kW. The aerodynamic efficiency was further optimised, the ultra lightweight concept systematically continued, and the digital rear view mirror used for the first time last year was complemented by an additional two forward-facing cameras that give the drivers the maximum field of front-vision.

We wish Audi the best of luck at this year's Le Mans 24 Hours.

A GT3 drifting around the Nürburgring is a normal sight these days. Now combine those two variables with snow, add pilot cup tyres, multiply it by a fleet of super cars and you have something monumental.

It’sIt’s cold, windy and the roads are extremely frosty. The Regent’s Racing kids have just arrived in magnificent style, fresh off the powdered ski slopes of Austria. A hot spring’s day it was not - the town of Nürburg felt abandoned upon arrival!

AfterAfter a quick night time Autobahn blast to get those high BHP levels going, this truly unique group of students from all corners of the globe, connected by their passions of business and racing, checked in to the hotel directly located on the track only to look out over their balconies at a completely frozen and almost deserted track. Lying on it - a sheet of glistening white snow. Challenge accepted!

WeWe spent the night strategizing while enjoying drinks in the ‘cockpit bar’ and immersed ourselves fully into motor sport heaven. One restless night later and what better way to wake up than to the roaring sound of high octane enticing us straight to the racing track.

TacklingTackling the most dangerous and challenging track in the world is demanding enough. Now hand the keys to a beaming group of 20 something year olds with MSA licenses and try plunging into the 13 mile circuit, which has 181 corners at various altitudes of up to 300m, flat out dancing on ice.

REGENT’S RACING SUPERCAR KIDS TRAIL BLAZES THEIR WAY THROUGH THE NURBURGRING!

Page 47: The Supercar Kids - Issue 6 - May 2013

The track fully makes you aware of the strengths and limits of the cars and consistently pushes you to breaking point. It almost felt fitting that one of the R8 drivers had opera music blaring from his speakers around the circuit - it was emotional!

Sadly,Sadly, after lunch we got into a bit of trouble at the track. One of the 458s had been modified so that all 3 exhaust pipes were used in low revs to truly appreciate the harmonious engine sound. This was apparently a major issue for the marshals (even though there was a much louder Zonda on track) who called the police, swore at us aggressively in German, fined us heavily and ultimately ended up banning the driver from ever entering the Nordschliefe for a year!for a year!

We were very dismayed by the management at the Nürburgring and we can now clearly understand why the track is for sale. To make things worse, the track conditions had dried up.

Our next destination was Amsterdam, where we spent the follow-ing day recharging.

Despite the negative ending in Germany our experience was truly incredible. The scenery was stunning, the roads were flawless and the ride was exhilarating! And it is true that a real automotive and racing fan must experience the legendary Nordschliefe or be pun-ishable by the law!

A special thanks to our professional racing drivers, Ugo Miceli & Nabih Muammar, who were kind enough to guide the rest of the team around the track and show them the appropriate advanced racing techniques.

The Regent’s Racing Society was founded in 2010 by Farah Nanji & Iman Allana in order to provide competitive racing to interested students and members of the business world.
