A DEEP SENSE OF APPRECIATION To: All Parishioners of The Church of Saint Ann

Dearly Beloved in Christ,

“Wishing you peace and all good” according to the prayers of St. Francis of Assisi”.

From the depth of our heart, we write to say “A Big Thank You” to you for your generous response to my appeal for our growing Diocese of Ijebu-Ode. Words are not enough to express the depth of our appreciation. In the words and prayers of the Prophet Elijah, we say to you in faith “… your bowl will not run out of flour or your jar run out of oil …” (Kg. 17:14). May God be gracious to you and bless you and may He bring your paths and purposes to fruitful ends. Amen.

I have since sent report of your love and generosity to my Bishop, Most Rev. lbert A. Fasina, Clergy, Religious, and Lay Faithful of my Diocese. They were really touched by your kind gesture.

May the blessings of the Lord be with you and may He give success to the works of your hand. Amen. (Ps. 90:17)

With deep sentiments of thanks and appreciation, I remain Sincerely yours in Christ, Rev. Albert A. Adeleke Mission Coordinator For the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode in the U.S.A.

AUGUST 2017, the Parish Office will

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE CARE OF THE EARTH

In 2015 Pope Francis, in conjunction with the Eastern Orthodox Church and the World Council of Churches, declared September 1 as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of the Earth. He stated that "as Christians we wish to contribute to resolving the ecological crisis which humanity is presently experiencing. In doing so, we must first rediscover in our rich spiritual patrimony the deepest motivation for the care of creation." For believers in Jesus Christ, "the life of the spirit is not dissociated from the body or from nature or from worldly realities, but lived in them, in communion with all that surrounds us." The ecological crisis "thus summons us to a profound spiritual conversion . . . for living our vocation to be protectors of God's handi-work is essential to the life of virtue; it is not an optional or secondary aspect of our Christian experience.” (Laudato Si) The World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation offers us an opportunity to reaffirm our vocation to be stewards of creation, to thank God for the wonderful handiwork entrusted to our care, and to implore God's help for the protection of creation. The celebra-tion of this day will be a valuable opportunity to bear witness to our communion with other churches at a time when all Christians are faced with the same decisive challenges.

Therefore, on Friday, September 1, all members of the parish are encouraged to join Christians worldwide by saying the following prayer:

God our Father and Creator, we give you thanks

for the wonder of creation which inspires us, the fruit of the earth which feeds us,

and the joy of life which gives us hope.

Heal the places where your creation has been marred, and restore all creatures to the splendor of your glory,

that all may delight once again in your goodness.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
