Theodore Roosevelt June is Rotary Fellowship Month Rotary Fest June 3, 2017 It was another successful Rotary event, thanks to the leadership of Adaire Wolf and the many members who donated their time and energy. More info to follow later on Rotary Fest. President’s Day( June 6) President John Schwebke named Steve Bohnenkamp and Bob Elam Rotarians of the Year and what a well- deserved honor for them. Sir Cass (Knight from our club’s Early Act/First Knight Program in Jarrell ISD) knighted members who were responsible for setting up our own local foundation in 2010. Those knighted were Carolyn Holloway, Alex Munson, Lou Gibson, Dick Will, and Bill Miller. Ron Ferreri and Rich Petro were not present. Our club named Steve Fought as Person-of-the- Year. He is the city councilman from District#4. Steve is always very responsive to the inquiries from people in his district. Judge Bill Gravel did the honors of swearing in President Harold Bergh and President-Elect Sam Smith as well other officers and Board members for the Rotary year of 2017-2018. Harold begins his duties as President in July. For his service to our club, Lou Gibson was given a check to be donated to Special Friends. The Endowment Fund Our Sun City Rotary Club established a Permanent Endowment Fund at Chisolm Trail Communities Foundation in June of 2010 with $25,000, the bulk of which was donated by Graham and Carolyn Holloway. By the 31 st of March, 2017, additional donations and fund investment earnings had grown to $106,290 with $95, 151 being corpus (donated dollars and $11,139 unexpended fund earnings. Fund investments have earned $31, 539 of which $20, 400 has been expended by the club’s Board to support numerous outreach projects. Those knighted last Tuesday include major contributors to the Fund’s growth and financial committee management. This article was submitted by Bill Miller. Future Meetings and Locations June 13 th The Delaney in Georgetown Village Dr. Allen Dennis, a Pain Management and Anesthesiology Physician June 20 th The Delaney As part of Fellowship Month, members will have the chance to interact with newer ones as well as all members. June 27 th Cowan Creek This is a special evening meeting with a presentation by Bill Thornton , a SC resident. It will be based on a recent trip he took to Central Asia. This event is free to all guests, but a pre-registration is required for catering purposes. Please make sure that you and your guest are registered. From the Editors The Sun Light will be sent out as an email periodically, so that all members can be well ininformed about club happenings.
