The Lord has blessed all Christians with gifts, in-
terests and talents that He asks us to use for the
good of His Church! (1 Peter 4:10, “As each has
received a gift, use it to serve one another …”) It’s
that time of year again to consider how you can
use those talents. This year’s Volunteer Cam-
paign form can help you decide! The form is
available at each of the sanctuary doors and in this
issue of the Herald. Please return your Volunteer
Campaign form to the church office by Monday,
September 9th so that the new server schedule
can be put together in a timely fashion!

Presbyterian Church Changing Lives for Jesus Christ!
I recently attended my 45th high school reunion. Before I went, I was somewhat anxious about
not having anyone to talk to. I was hoping and praying that some of my old friends would also
be there. I was staying with my little sister and I told her that I might return early if I felt at all
uncomfortable.
When I arrived at the reunion, I didn't see anyone I really knew and just kinda walked around the room just
saying hi and looking at name tags. I started talking to a lady I barely remembered from earlier years. We
probably talked about an hour because we had a lot in common. She was married to a pastor.
Later, I sat down at one table and started listening to one classmate explain how some of our classmates had
died. She turned out to be full of information about our class so I stayed at that table. Even though I barely
knew anyone sitting at the table, I started having a good time just talking to each one and getting to know
them.
At one point, I noticed that one of the spouses of a classmate was just sitting
alone. I am not sure why but I decided to engage him in conversation. We
talked for a while about how he met his wife, whom I remembered from high
school. After I was asked to do the prayer for dinner and was introduced as
the Reverend Tommy Jones, I walked back to the table and he smiled really
big and said, "I didn't know you are a pastor!" He then proceeded to tell me
that he was a worship pastor at a local church.
I ended up being one of the last ones to leave the reunion. I was having a
great time with my new friends. Some of them have now friended me on Fa-
cebook. The reunion was a good reminder that when we only hang out with
our clique at school, work or church, we limit our blessings of having many
special friends in our lives. Next time you see someone at church you don't
know, why not strike up a conversation? After all, you may just find a new
friend!
Love and Blessings, Pastor Tom

FROM FULL WRATH TO FULL GLORY
Study Verses: Ps 24:10, 56:9; 1Ki. 18:40; Mt. 27:46; Mk 15:34; Rom 3:24;
Eph 1:7; Jhn 3:36; Heb 9:22; Phl 2: 6-8
I learned very early, my sins alone were enough to sentence the innocent Son of Man to endure the agony of the cross.
My transgressions offended God’s moral and Mosaic Law necessitating the Almighty to offer up His only begotten and
beloved Son. He was abandoned from heavenly honor, power and glory for the disgrace and violence reserved for the
most despicable criminals. The plan of Redemption set forth by a loving and all-wise God, prior to the foundations of the
world, demanded ample punishment. Atonement required extraction from a life of purity and innocence, attributes absent
from natural man. Add to this complexity all those who have lived, are living, or will live…amid accumulated transgres-
sions; overwhelmingly impossible! Is it conceivable that our eternal destiny ever hung on the blind scale of justice? You
know the answer. He who devised the Law, gave divine testimony to the damning charges. God is the only life force
capable of settling the enormous ransom debt. Directed by His Father, JESUS forfeited a perfect life by shedding pre-
cious, innocent blood for sinners who trust in that “Name”. He was the Sacrificial Lamb of God. The Savior’s poured
out life, was accepted as payment in full; Salvation…Forgiveness…Freedom from the wages of sin: eternal death. This
same innocent blood cleanses and separates us from all filth and corruption of unrighteousness, as we receive new lives
in Christ. The indwelling Holy Spirit provides guidance and power for each member of the Church—the living, earthly
Body of the Lord, soon to be raised without spot to glory. Jesus lives and reigns with Father God, restored to power and
gleaming honor. Look to the Eternal Kingdom as we are made joint-heirs with our Lord to all that He possesses. The
time is at hand to proclaim Gospel truth to a sin weary world.
The Terrible Ordeal
Many ancient manuscripts provide detail into the savage brutality of Jesus’ death at Calvary. It is not remotely possible
for the most ardent student of the Scriptures to comprehend the excruciating physical, mental and in Jesus’ plight, the
spiritual torture of the cross. Two essential truths to better understand what toll His suffering took from the Savior’s soul:
Extreme spiritual and metal torment far exceeded even slow agony of His physical torture during the crucifixion. Sec-
ondly, spiritual punishment could only be fulfilled after the physical death of Jesus. He cried out loudly “…MY GOD,
MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME?” The exhausted Son of Man, feeling desperately alone, surrenders
His spirit and dies. The redemption penalty has been partially paid. God demands sin and evil be obliterated. Thusly the
Father brings down upon the beloved Son…THE FULL WEIGHT OF HIS WRATH. This can only conclude with Je-
sus spiritually descending into the depths of Hell as a guilty, convicted sinner, to suffer all the forces of evil could muster
to finish God’s Son. Giddy reprisal!
It is written in 1 Kings, the great prophet Elijah received an answer to prayer, bringing down fire from heaven to consume
a dampened, holy sacrifice. Granted victory over the priests of Baal, Elijah ordered the witnessing crowd of Israelites to
lay hold of the charlatans, march them to the brook Kishon and “slay everyone…let none escape”! Jehovah had been
emphatic in His decree that idol worship must end. The cry from the prophet, “not one will survive”, is echoed through-
out the Old Testament.
Jesus’ entry into Satan’s domain was godly subterfuge. The Son of God faced eternal damnation on ungodly terms; He
won the battle “…seizing the keys” to the prison, and vanquished Satan and overcame eternal death. The forces of Hell,
although defeated, are “loose for a season and will take a toll. The blueprint of Salvation shows it all on the line, risking
Jesus Christ and the whole of creation. Those of us who believe in the absolute character and attributes of God, know
with spiritual certainty, failure is impossible. What appears to be a contradiction, is not. Truth is inseparable from per-
spective and salvation is purely spiritual and must be understood as such.
In the realm of the Christian Church, we are accepted by Father God as the righteousness of Jesus. He has no greater
treasure or pleasure than the Son that was chastised and given for us. Because of love, “…the gates of Hell shall not
prevail…”

NOTES FROM OUR HIS KIDS TEACHERS!
Hello! My name is Rachel Moeller and I'm the new Kindergarten teacher. I am very excited to be a part of HIS Kids
Christian School! Here is a little about me: I grew up in Butler County and graduated from Seneca Valley School District
in 2011. I attended Duquesne University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education and a mi-
nor in theology. After graduating, I was immediately offered a Kindergarten position in Florida, where I spent my first-
year teaching. At the end of the school year, I relocated back to Pittsburgh due to my husband's job. After moving back
into the area, I taught Pre-K for a year. This past school-year, I taught Kindergarten at Butler Catholic. Now, I live in
Cranberry Township with my husband and 3-year old labradoodle. I love to hike and walk my dog on different trails
around Butler County. My husband and I attend church at Northway Christian Community, where I volunteer in the Kids
Space and am part of multiple Bible studies. Thank you for welcoming me into your school community!
Mrs. Moeller — Kindergarten Teacher ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello Everyone! My name is Mallory Truax, and I will be taking over in second grade for Mrs. Collins while she is tak-
ing care of her new baby. This past May I graduated from La Roche University with a degree in Early Childhood Educa-
tion (PreK-4) and Special Education (PreK-8). I will be taking a class this fall to obtain my Special Education 9th-
12th certification as well. The path that lead to me becoming a teacher was not an easy one. I started out wanting to be
anything but a teacher. As we all know, the Lord works in mysterious ways. He led me to the path that I was supposed
to be on, and that is education. I grew up in Chicora with my parents and younger brother. Just this past month I moved
out of my childhood home and into my own apartment in Butler with my adorable puppy Bailey. She is a year-old Blue
Heeler, and she is a ball of energy. She and I love to run, so if you see us out say hello!
I am beyond excited to be teaching second grade this year. Second grade has always had a special place in my heart be-
cause I did a portion of my student teaching in a second-grade classroom. We did some many fun projects when I taught
second grade. The students created an entire museum to show off all that they learned during the Ancient Egypt unit;
which we shared with the other second grade classrooms. I loved watching the students grow even in the few short weeks
I was with them. HIS Kids seemed like the perfect opportunity for me to have those experiences again, so I jumped at
this opportunity. Mrs. Collins and I have been working closely to make sure everything runs smoothly for the students.
This is going to be a great year! I am excited to meet everyone and get to know the students at HIS Kids.
Ms. Truax — Second Grade Teacher
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ God is good all the time!! And He has blessed me with the opportunity to teach 5th grade at HIS Kids this year. My
name is Christan Baker and although my name is spelled like Christian, I am a girl. I graduated from Slippery Rock with
my K-6, Special Ed. and Library Certifications. I have had so many wonderful teaching experiences before coming to
HIS Kids. I taught in the inner city, taught for a couple weeks in Africa, spent a year teaching in a Montessori classroom,
taught in a private school in an Emotional Support classroom, taught countless summer camps and came back to subbing
after several years running my own in-home daycare. The last couple years, I have been in and out of long term place-
ments in local school districts and have had the chance to implement Makerspace in some classrooms. I enjoy the oppor-
tunity to explore new ways to engage students in the classroom.
When I’m not at school, I am volunteering with my family, snuggling with my two kitties, or leading a rambunctious
group of Girl Scouts. My family and I love to camp and recently bought a travel trailer. We have had some exciting
camping trips and have made so many memories already. My husband and daughter are great at enjoying the outdoors
and are some of the best S’more’ makers I know. Maybe I can share my campfire recipes with my new friends at HKCS!
We are definitely going to have some adventures this year! I can’t wait!!
Welcome Baby Boy Collins
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Regis Collins on the birth of their precious ba-
by boy. Leo Patrick Collins was born on August 16, 2019. He weighed in at 7
lbs. 8 oz. Little Leo joins a large family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and
those who are trying to infiltrate their family (like Mrs. Dawson who wants des-
perately to be called Mimi by another little one). What a special Back to School
treat for the Collins family! Mrs. Collins will return to her second grade class-
room in October.
A special thank you goes to Ms. Mallory Truax who has worked closely with
Mrs. Collins as her substitute teacher until Mrs. Collins returns. Second grade
students are very lucky to have two fantastic ladies taking good care of them
this year.
Looking “Up”
Those who enter through our doors for another year might notice some major
changes to the school building. Many people have been hard at work again this
summer to bring new life to the Christian Community Outreach Building that
houses HIS Kids Christian School.
Visitors looking “UP” will see that new lights and ceiling tiles brighten the lob-
by, offices, and primary hallway. The improvement is immediately obvious. A
new sign on the school building identifies HIS Kids Christian School with the
current logo. It replaces the three adorable children that we used in our former
advertising. Inside the building, several projects are a work in progress. Signs
outside and above each classroom will make it easier to direct visitors to the
appropriate rooms.
Looking “Up” within the Intermediate hallway is the pride and joy of the 2019-
20 school year and beyond. The computer lab has a totally different look.
Brightly painted walls, new carpet, streamlined work stations, and updated
equipment will allow students to learn in an exciting and stimulating environ-
ment. We just can’t wait to show off this room.
There are so many people to thank for all this work, time, and money spent.
We will make sure that staff and students pray in thanksgiving for all who make
such improvements possible. We ask God to bless them richly!
