WHY TO STUDY PARTICLE PHYSICS?

● it gets you closer to the substance of the matter● it introduces an interesting subject of quantum (field)

theory and phenomenons beyond our everyday experience

● it uses magnificent experimental apparatus● it involves international projects and collaboration● its students are wanted and well treated :)

HOWEVER, particle physics also ...

● means working in front of the computer● requires many computer skills

● demands long study before becoming a particle physicist

MONEY, MONEY

PhD. students' salary:● it is possible to live with it● problems with renting a flat in Prague● students can't save any money

How to have more money:● trainee-ships abroad● students find a part-time job ● PhD. or postdoctoral position abroad
