TRANSCRIPT
THE STORY In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. God said, “Let there be
light”. God saw that the light was good and separated the darkness from the light. God said, “Let there be the sky to divide the water above it and below it,” and it was
done. And God saw that it was good. God separated the water from the land and dry land appeared. God said, “Let the
earth produce trees and plants of all kinds with seed in them.” So trees and plants of all kinds with seed in them grew on the earth. And God saw that it was good.
God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate day and night and show the times and the seasons.” God made the sun to rule the day and the moon and stars for the night to give light to the earth. And God saw that it was good.
God said, “Let the water be filled with living things and let the air be filled with birds.” So God made all the creatures that live in the water, and all the birds.
And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Increase in number and fill the seas and the earth.”
God said, “Let the earth produce all kinds of animals, tame and wild, large and small.” And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Now We will make human beings; they will be like Us and resemble Us.” So God created people, male and female, blessed them, and said, “Have many children and fill the earth. I put you in charge of the earth and every living thing. I have provided you all with plants for food.”
God looked at all that He had made and saw that it was very good. Thus God finished His work of creating the whole of the heavens and the earth. God
rested after all His work. God blessed this day and made it holy.
FAITH AND FAMILY TIME • Talk about the story picture, and the children’s activities. Read
more about creation in Genesis 1 or in a Bible story book. • Practise looking at God’s creation—”I see something God made”.
Then take turns describing what you see. Look for God’s artwork (colours), music (birds), rhythm (wind and water sounds), dance (birds flying, dolphins, grasses, and trees moving).
• Say the first part of the Creed together every day. • Read through Luther’s explanation to the first article of the Creed and talk about
what it means in your life.
PRAYER Dear God, thank You for the wonderful world that You have created for us to live in. Help us to care for Your creation and to share with others what we have learnt about the wonderful things in nature and about You. Amen.

In the Beginning
Our story is about the beginning of everything. We find this story at the
beginning of the Bible in the first chapter of the first book called Genesis. The Bible starts with how God created everything.
The name Genesis means beginning.
Unscramble the names of things that God created and draw pictures of them.
Bible Verse
In the beginning God created
the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
WE BELIEVE Every Sunday in church we say in the
Creed that we believe that God is the Maker of heaven and earth.
We believe that the world did not just happen. It was made by God, our almighty (powerful) Father.
He made it out of nothing.
God also has a plan for His world. People are part of that plan. He put people into the world and told them to look after it.
He put them into the world also to worship and serve Him.
Something to think
about and discuss • What made people
special, different from
the rest of creation?
• What do you think it
means to be created in
God’s image?
• What did God want
people to do with His
creation?
• How well do you think
we are caring for God’s
creation?
• Can you think of some
things that can be
done about it?
The Trinity The Apostles’ Creed is divided into three parts or three articles, which talk about what we call the three ’persons’ of the Trinity. There is one God, but that God comes to us in three persons: the Father, who made us and cares for us; the Son, who became one of us, died for us, was raised for us, and will judge us; and the Holy Spirit who guides and comforts us, and gives us power to believe in
God.
Holy
Trinity
Sunday
On the first Sunday
after Pentecost, the
birthday of the Christian
Church, many Christians
think about one of the main
things that the Holy Spirit has led us
to believe and teach. There is one God,
but that God is three persons: the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Because God is
one God in three persons, we sometimes call
God the Trinity, or Three-in-one, so this Sunday is
often called Holy Trinity Sunday.
