There may even be a few who’d love nothing more than to fling it into the far distance with as much force as possi- ble! Whatever the past twelve months have held for you, it is now in the past. We don’t pos- sess the ability to travel back in time in order to undo bad decisions or take back harsh words spoken in haste. What we can do, though, is strive to make the new year even bet- ter than the one just ended. What plans have you made for 2015? Any new resolu- tions? What hopes do you harbor? What fresh start would you like to make as the new year begins? Perhaps someone you know needs to be forgiven of some past wrong. Or maybe you’re the one who needs to experience forgiveness. You may have long wanted to read the Bible through in a year. Or start keeping a daily journal. Or get away on a personal retreat alone with God. Or volunteer at a soup kitchen. Or find a LIFE Group. Or help chaper- one a youth group event. Or spend a day of service repair- ing things around the church. Let me encourage you to dream big in 2015... and put feet to those dreams! Make things happen! See plans through! The past is just that...past; but the fu- ture is before you, wide open and full of possibilities. As you let go of 2014, leave your hand open and reach for all the good things God has for you in 2015! On a personal note, let me express on behalf of the whole family our heart- felt gratitude for all the many gifts and expressions of appreciation we re- ceived from you during the Christmas season. We were overwhelmed by your generosity and thoughtfulness. Yes, 2014 certainly held its challenges, but you made Advent and Christmas so memorable for our family. It remains such an honor to be your pastoral fam- ily here at Brandenburg! Thank you for all you’ve done & continue to do. – Bro. Jim Birthdays B irthdays

Brandenburg United Methodist Church will spon-sor a blood drive Sunday, January 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in a mo-bile bloodmobile to be parked outside. Every two sec-onds someone in

the U.S. needs blood because of illnesses and dis-eases, accidents, injuries and violence. Seven out of ten of us will need blood during our lifetime and you never know when you may need it. Each donor can save as many as three lives with one pint of blood. Giving blood is quick and easy and you can do it every 56 days. Nancy Inman is our blood drive coordinator. For more information, please contact Nancy at 270-422-4413 or Rose at the church office at 270-422-2810.

I wish to thank my BUMC family for the generous gift from the church and all the other wonderful cards, gifts and goodies. Your thoughtfulness truly means a lot to me.

Thank you, Rose

The family of Isabell Wilson would like to thank everyone for food, flowers and visits while she was sick. Thanks and God bless you.

The Bud Wilson Family

Dear Church Family,

Thank you so much for the gift from the church and the other gifts and good wishes this Christmas season. I am truly blessed to worship and work at Brandenburg United Methodist Church!

Yours, Sandra Stone

Hello, Church Family!

What an awesome, fabulous, and busy Christmas season! The children were busy with their Christmas Camp and Musical. Our musical, Fact or Fiction, went off with a BANG and the kids loved it. There are sev-eral people I need to thank for helping make it such a success. To all the kids for their hard work and dedica-tion every Wednesday night and practices. To Hersh for running the graphics/sound effects. To Barrett for help-ing set up lights and video recording. To Brian Love for running all the sound and mics. To our awesome helpers/bouncers, Denise Corely, Pat Cates, and Jen-nifer Saylor. And last but not least Miss Mimi Wilson for spending so much time learning and directing these kids. I am truly amazed at what you do with them and blessed to have worked alongside you. Coming up this winter we have some new curricu-lum for both Sundays and Wednesday Night Life! So we know that kids ask a million questions about Je-sus, heaven, sinning, forgiveness, etc. Well here is the chance to answer them! For the next 10 weeks on Sun-days, our curriculum is called “You’ve got questions, He’s got answers.” It is a series based on the life of Joseph where lessons include: “Can God really use me?” and “Do I really have to forgive them?” Then on Wednesday nights, starting on January 14, we will be using music and videos with the lessons to learn what it means to be “Transformed.” Children will learn from Bible characters who come face-to-face with Jesus and were TRANSFORMED. I am excited to see what God has in store for this new year with the BUMC Kidz, and I truly enjoyed my first year as your Children’s Minister. Thank you for all your love and support!

If you would like to receive e-mail messages from the church, please send a message to [email protected] to be placed on the distribution list. Our members list includes all mem-bers and regular attendees for whom we have e-mail addresses. Our prayer request list goes only to those who specify they would like to be included on the e-mail prayer chain distribution. Additionally, there have been some issues lately with e-mail replies arriving at their intended destination. If you have a bbtel e-mail address and are not receiving e-mails from Sandra Stone or from the church e-mail, please check your spam folder to see if e-mails are landing there. If so, you may select “approve sender,” and that should cor-rect the problem.

Do we have your e-mail address?

Monthly servers are listed in the bulletin the last Sunday of the month and the monthly Steeple Bell.

If you are unable to serve on the day you are scheduled, please make arrangements, when

possible, to switch days with another member.

JANUARY COMMUNION OFFERING

Human Relations Sunday Our January communion offering will be for Human Relations Day. This is one of the six yearly United Methodist church-wide offer-ings. Human Relations Day calls the church to recognize the right of all God’s children to realize their potential as human beings. It also supports programs for community development voluntary services and police-community relations. Your offering provides a secure foundation for God’s children of all ages. More than thirty church-based commu-nity developers work in racial and ethnic mi-nority communities in the United States and Puerto Rico providing vital outreach. Your offering on Human Relations Day models Christ’s love through: • Local church youth offender rehabilitation projects that match United Methodist mentors with first-time, nonviolent young offenders; • A multiracial network of grass-roots social justice organizations related to United Meth-odist Voluntary Service. God calls us to model Christ’s love in our churches and communities and to lead others to Christ. Please give generously on Human Relations Day. Your gift can make a world of difference!

Congratulations to Cody and Katrina (Fred-erick) Hager in the birth of their child, Knox Finley Hager. Knox was born October 21,

2014, and weighed 6 lbs., 1 oz.

Happy 2015! It promises to be another great (and busy) year for our Invasion Youth and we hit the ground running…

New Weekly Schedule! Starting January 14, all Invasion Youth will meet for Life Group on Wednesday nights in the Youth Center. Dinner at BUMC each Wednes-day at 5:45, followed by groups at 6:30. We will start with a series called “Move” and I’m excit-ed about what God will do. Inviting all 7th-12th graders out each Wednesday night!

Winter Jam 2015 - Join us Saturday, Janu-ary 3, for Winter Jam concert. $10 at the door and more bands than you can count! Let me know before Saturday if you plan to go. This trip is for all youth (7th-12th-grade). Middle School Ice Skating - January 10. We will meet at BUMC at 5pm, eat on the way and skate until our rear ends can’t handle any more falls! This is a middle school only trip (7th- & 8th-grade). High School Snow Ski Trip - January 18. Still putting plans together for this but we will leave sometime after church in the afternoon and ski late. You’re off school the next day so you’ve got time to rest up!

Believe Middle School Conference - January 23-24. This is an overnight middle school conference in Louisville and I’m really pumped about this trip. We don’t get to do stuff like this often with this age group. Don’t miss this trip! Finally, a HUGE thanks to our church family for baking and bidding at our Youth Bake Auc-tion. We raised roughly $1,200 for our youth, and this will be a great start to all the activities and ministry we have planned for 2015. Thanks to ALL of you for your continued support.
