Calm Sea of Peace
On occasion, I am a ship in stormy waters,
Tossed about by troubling thoughts,
Rocked harshly with emotional waves.
I am a ship searching for a calmer voyage
On the smooth surface of eventual surrender.
Protect me on the rough and roiling breakers
Of difficulties that agitate and fling me around.
Calm the patters of distressful undulation
Tossing me to and fro in life’s unwanted events.
Sail my ship on the calm sea of your peace.
Today: My ship finds the Calm Sea of Peace.

Activities at St. Paul’s: January 26 - February 2
The Social Justice Committee is requesting a few items to help St. Paul’s to continue its support for refugees when they first arrive in Edmonton: household wares, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery, linens, appliances, small furniture items, etc. Also we need individual sized juice bottles with screw top lids in which to put cooking oil.
Thank you for your generosity, it is so much appreciated.
The hearing loop is accessed by switching your hearing device to the telecoil “T” mode.
February 16, after worship. All members and adherents of St. Paul’s United Church are invited to attend. Board and committee reports for the inclusion in the 2019 annual report are due by January 31.

Dinner with Friends needs hosts for this term!
Last week a member of the group put our event on the UAlberta Redit board and 23 people came to dinner. We were able to give everyone a little bit but we will have to make more soup!
If you can donate frozen soup or bread or salad to the cause that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for helping to feed hungry students!
The Board of St. Paul’s is inviting everyone to contribute to building goals, creating plans, and renewing our vision, for the next five years of our congregational life. Are you willing to be a host of one such Vision 2020 discussion, facilitating the discussion and gathering feedback? If so let one of the Vision 2020 coordinators know: Helen Lightfoot, Catherine MacLean, Christopher Peet, or Jim Stewart.

The World of Gender

What is “ Outing” and is it bad?

Avoid getting a parking ticket…
Parking Rules around St. Paul’s United Church: No parking within 5 meters (16 feet) of a stop sign
or yield sign. For our congregation, this applies to the stop sign on the NW corner of 116 st and 76 ave. This also applies to the two yield signs, one on the NE corner of 77 ave and 116 st and one on the SW corner of 77 ave and 116 st.
No parking within 5 meters of a crosswalk or intersection and every intersection is a crosswalk, whether marked or not. In our case there are crosswalks assumed at the intersections of 116 st and 76 ave and 116 st and 77 ave, albeit a strange angled intersection.
Parking spots in all other areas around the church streets and avenues are available and the 2-hour rule is not enforced during Sunday mornings.
