I often comment in this space about various eventsbeing held in the Rainsville area. Sometimes I wonder ifit’s too often. But I must do it again because August inRainsville will start with one of the most eventfulweekends in recent memory. First, starting in August, the Ya’ll Come BackRestaurant (formerly, The Mountain Restaurant) will beopen on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening for dinner. They are also now open for lunch on Sunday. A ribboncutting will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday to mark the occasion. Some celebrities will be in the city on Saturday, and ifyou are inclined to do so, it will be easy to plan your day toget out and enjoy each of them in person and still be able todrop by a store or two to take advantage of the back-to-school tax holiday.Bill Dance, the world’s most famous fisherman, will be atthe Agri-Business Center during the Northeast AlabamaHunting & Outdoor Expo. According to his Facebookpage, he will be there from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The expo willalso feature other celebrities, several dozen vendordisplays, product demos, seminars, door prize drawings, aduck calling contest and more. Admission is only $5 foradults and teenagers (free for ages 12 and under) onSaturday or Sunday. The Rick Webb Family will share their smoothCarolina-style of Southern Gospel at 9 a.m. at FarmersTelecommunications Cooperative’s annual meeting at thecoliseum in Rainsville on Saturday. This meeting is amilestone all on its own. It’s the co-op’s 60th annualmeeting, and they’ve added some activities to mark theoccasion. There will be an antique car and truck showstarting at 8 a.m. Members will have the opportunity toenjoy Coke floats and other goodies. Of course, they willalso have the election of two trustees, and give away a largenumber of gifts and door prizes. The world’s most famous blue macaws will be on thebig screen on Saturday at 8 p.m. at RTI’s Movie in the Parkpresentation of Rio 2. The movie had been originallyscheduled for a couple of weeks ago but was postponeduntil this weekend due to rain. Bring your own chairs orground covering and enjoy the free outdoor movie.
The University of Alabama football team's annual FanDay, presented by Alumni Hall Store, is set for Sunday,August 3. The Crimson Tide will hold an open practice inBryant-Denny Stadium from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Players andcoaches will be available for autographs immediately afterthe practice on the field at approximately 4:45 p.m. Fans may enter the stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m.through gate 44 and occupy the lower bowl (sections AA-NN). The open practice, which is slated to start at 2:30p.m., is scheduled to last approximately two hours. Forsecurity purposes, all items are subject to inspection as fansenter the stadium for both the practice and Fan Day. Children attending can sign up for the Big Al's KidsClub and all fans can register for the Crimson TideRewards program outside the East side of the stadium atgate 44 beginning at 1:30 p.m. At the conclusion of practice, those wishing toparticipate in Fan Day will enter the field through gate 31and exit via gate 44. Fans not wishing to view practice andwould like to start lining up early can do so beginning at1:30 p.m. Those fans can enter through gate 31. Following practice, the Crimson Tide football team, coaching staff and head coach Nick Saban will be availablefor autographs on the field for 45 minutes. The gate to thefield will be open once the autograph session has been setup. In an effort to facilitate as many autographs in the timeallowed, fans will be limited to one item per person forautographs, and no posed photographs will be permitted. Parking for Fan Day can be found in the West ten Hoorarea of campus. There are two parking decks as well assurface lots that are available for your convenience.Parking for persons with disabilities is available on a firstcome, first served basis in the Communications card Lotand Wallace Wade Lots. speaking of physical death in these verses. He says that He has no pleasure in thephysical death of the wicked, rather, Hedesires that the wicked turn from theirwickedness and live. Then God saysthat a righteous man might turn fromhis righteousness and bring physicaldeath early, because of his disobedience. Our verses are not speaking ofeternal salvation, for no man can simplystop being wicked and be saved by suchreform. Galatians 2:21 proves this truthby showing that there is no law one cankeep to gain eternal life. God is showing,in the verses above, that a wicked manin Israel could prolong his life by turningfrom his wickedness. So, God hates the workers of iniquity aslong as such people persist in their sins, butHe loves them enough to save them fromtheir sins when they repent and place theirfaith in Him. Romans 5:8 says, “But Godcommendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ diedfor us.” All of us are sinners by nature andby choice, but when we turn to Godin repentance and faith, He savesus!
What does it mean that God hates theworkers of iniquity? Psalm 5:5-6 says,“The foolish shall not stand in Thy sight:Thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thoushalt destroy them that speak leasing: theLORD will abhor the bloody and deceitfulman.” The word “leasing” means “to lie”,so God will destroy liars. The word“abhor” means “to hate”, so God hatesbloody and deceitful men. To some people, this may sound like God would really loveto cast all of the above into hell, but that isnot the case! Ezekiel 33:11-12 says, “Say unto them,As I live, saith the Lord God, I have nopleasure in the death of the wicked; but thatthe wicked turn from his way and live: turnye, turn ye from your evil ways; for whywill ye die, O house of Israel? Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children ofthy people, The righteousness of therighteous shall not deliver him in the day ofhis transgression: as for the wickedness ofthe wicked, he shall not fall thereby inthe day that he turneth from his wickedness:neither shall the righteous be able to livefor his righteousness in the day that hesinneth.” These verses could seem hard tounderstand, but they really are not. God is

Snead State Spring President’s ListColumn by Matt Silvestro • Ledger Correspondent
Wow, Johnny football, two years ago, people barelyknew who you were. You then set numerous collegefootball records and you became a top NFL quarterbackprospect. You haven't even started your professional careerand it seems like your team is already questioning if you aregoing to be a successful NFL quarterback. I think Peyton Manning or Tom Brady needs to sit youdown and tell you that your main focus right now needs tobe football. When a team wants to build a team around you,you need to give that franchise your all. It's frustrating that there are people doubting Manziel, but he is only doing it to himself. It should be interesting tosee how it plays out. It wouldn't be surprising to see him onthe bench to start the season.
Are you ready for the bench Johnny?

Childhood obesity has more than doubled in childrenand quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. In2012, more than one third of children and adolescents wereoverweight or obese. A study has shown that children who became obese asearly as age 2 were more likely to be obese as adults. Childhood obesity has both immediate and long termeffects on health and well being. Health risks include heart disease, diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer and osteoarthritis. Obesity alsocontributes to bone and joint problems, sleep apnea, andpoor self-esteem. Healthy lifestyle habits such as healthy eating andphysical activity can lower the risk of childhood obesity. The Chamber’s newest member, Foster’s TrainingFacility, can be the solution for encouraging children toexercise. According to owner, Marisa Foster, the facilityoffers a unique youth fitness program in a friendlyenvironment, as a fun way for kids to get in shape. Research shows that ages 7 through 11 are the peakyears for children to develop their coordination and motorskills. Therefore, through speed, agility, and body weightstrength training techniques, the facility’s program willimprove each kid’s abilities and address individual athleticneeds in order to build that critical physical foundation. Foster’s training Facility offers various programsproviding quality training and conditioning for athletes ofevery age and ability level. Private as well as groupinstruction is available for different age groups in varioustypes of sports. One thing that caught my eye on Marisa’s brochurewasSaturday Parent Date Nightfrom 5:30 to 9:30 p.m..Your child will be supervised by a qualified adultand provided fun, games with prizes, dinner andrefreshments. Please call Marisa at 256-630-0133 or visitFoster’s Training Facility at 218 Godfrey Avenue, NE, inFort Payne. “From grade schoolers to pros, an athlete trained byFoster’s is an athlete that is unshakable on and off theplaying field.”
