The aim of the SOHP Internship Progra is to provide experiential education i
the intellectual, organizational, an
practical work of oral history at one o
the nation’s most esteemed centers for ora
history scholarship. This internship i
designed in a three-part structure tha
includes an organizational placement or
“beat”, a research project in whic
students learn to conduct interviews an
engage with the practice of oral historie
(ideally in correlation to the SOHP’s cor
research activities), and participation in the weekly intern seminar.
Evaluation will be based on complete,
thorough, responsible, and creative
engagement in all aspects of the
internship program. All interns will be
asked to develop our undergraduate
programming through their ideas,
feedback, and initiatives as well as to
support SOHP Projects and events as
part of our team.

the rich collection of oral history interviews available

Why are you looking
forward to the SOHP
Internship?
One of my favorite classes
was Professor Jacquelyn
Hall's Introduction to Oral History, which I took last
spring. The scholarship-as-
activism ethos is one of the
best parts of Carolina, and
is particularly potent at the
SOHP.
What do you like doing
in your spare time?
Go to Yopo, jog around
Carrboro, sit outside and
read, take weekend trips
to the mountains, and
watch Parks and Rec or
Mad Men on Instant
Netflix.
