Introductions, Announcements and Sergeant at Arms

After Wink Jones led us in the song, Pledge of Allegiance and prayer, Terry Bowman introduced our only guest, Dave Burch from Boise Po-lice, who was focusing on how to discretely handcuff and detain an unnamed Rotarian sitting at his table. President Mike then announced that we need a Program Chair for August, September and October. We will need three speakers for each of those three months. To vol-unteer, please contact Bryan Nunes. Mike also announced that District Governor Jim Hogge will be our guest speaker on August 10. It was noted that we still need volunteers for Lobsterfest. Contact Bob Rose or Rod McDowell to help out. Mike noted that our club Directors meetings have changed to the second Tuesday of each month at noon at the Riverside. George Weissbeck reminded us that we all need to pitch in with a bottle of GOOD wine as a donation for the Wine Auc-tion at Lobsterfest. GOOD wine was then defined as having a retail value of at least $20. Think “Twenty Buck Chuck”. Wink then inter-viewed me on how and when I joined Rotary.

This Week’s Speaker

Rhea Allen, President of Peppershock Media and the Rotary Club of Nampa presented thoughts on “Rotary’s Voice”. She talked about branding being the bridge between RI’s strategies and our image. She believes that RI’s research tells us that Rotary’s strengths differentiate us from all other service organizations and that Rotarians are typically strong leaders. She feels that our strategy helps clarify our essence, or our reason for being as well as our values and beliefs and our voice. She then led a role play and conversation around why we joined Rotary and why we have stayed in our club.
