As the diagram below shows theselection of a raised access flooringproduct is influenced by many factorsincluding several from outside theobvious areas of application,performance and budget. The actualmethods of construction that will beimplemented on site are vital factorsthat must be taken into account aspart of the product selection processand subsequent preparation of aproject specific raised floorspecification and the use of underfloorservices would be advantageous.

Raised access floors are designed to give maximum flexibilityfor the installation of a myriad of services to equipment andworkstations.

Raised access floors are now used in every new HQ buildingbeing built in the UK and also numerous refurbishments ofolder structures.

The modern style of office development based around openplan offices with workstations causes constant changes indesk layout, services etc. which require the initial cablemanagement design to be substantially modified on a regularbasis - CHURN.

Every time these distribution systems need to be modifiedthe raised floor offers considerable cost savings, at least50%!

To alter or amend the services with a raised floor requires thesimple lifting of a panel, introduction of the new cables etc.and then replacement of the same panel.

This is virtually impossible with old fashioned cablemanagement systems, such as sub floor trunking, where it isnecessary to either scabble the concrete slab or introduce anew piece of trunking before making good the slab.
