The sleep of reason produces monsters
Long ago, notions such as heroes or monsters were very strictly defined.
Heroes were always those people who used to do right and useful things for the humanity, while monsters were those who used to overlap some basic values such as honesty, humanism, or work prizing.
It is known that the history of humanity is full of examples of heroes and monsters as well. It is our duty to learn from the history and not to repeat the same mistakes.
In the past people used to have solid values and their entire life was set on them.
Nowadays these notions are somehow relative, in the sense that the value ladder has changed entirely. On the one hand nowadays people do not share the same traditional values, on the other hand, in our society, people who manage to be successful ( no matter by what means ) are appreciated, and taken as human models, especially by the young generation.
According to some psychologists, values like honesty, tolerance, humanity, are nothing but simple words, even though our educational system still insists on praising them.
Moreover, more and more teenagers and young people start dreaming on becoming successful in life by cheating the others, having as life motto ,, everything is permitted in war and in business
As far as I am concerned, I do not think that a nation can survive and be prosperous if its people are not educated in the spirit of solid values. Abandonning these values, we will all become gready, envious, and dishonest and, consequently we will not be able to socialise properly.
