First and foremost, we want to wish our entire North Star family a very happy

and healthy New Year. Even in the heart of winter, we remain so thankful that you have chosen to spend your summers with us. The Summer of 2014 will be North Star’s 70th summer and it is already shaping up to be a great one. We have a great group of campers coming from around the country and around the world. Our staff is starting to come together as well and we are so excited to share with you the many staff who are returning this year.

Up at camp Tom has been battling truly arctic temperatures with daytime highs of -30° and wind chills of -50°. There has been as much as three feet of snow on the ground as well. Despite the frigid temperatures, staff members ANDY RODHEIM, SCOTT GOLDBERG, ARI WEIL, ZACH BLUMY BLUMENFELD and DYLAN JACOBS decided to rendezvous up at camp for a little winter getaway. They were even able to make their way across the athletic field to have a little campfire at the Council Ring. While these guys bundled up for the cold, many of you looked to escape the frigid air.

It was amazing to hear about how small the world really is. We heard great stories of DANIEL BERGMAN and ROSS KRANTZ running into each other in Israel at a beach on the shores of the Dead Sea, and both were wearing a North Star t-shirt! As amazing was that in South Africa, SPENCER, OWEN and OLIVER MARKS along with cousin JOSH MARKS ran into JONATHAN and JORDAN SCHACK and cousin DANIEL BERNSTEIN as well as NOAH and ZACH WEBER. Both are always there to share their wisdom and advice with campers and staff alike. Leb and Sue spend much of the off season playing the role of grandparents to Chase.

February is a crazy month for us! Once this time of year approaches, we hit the road again with a vengeance. The next month is always filled with camper recruitment visits. It’s also when we head out, several college campuses in search

of amazing staff members. We also have our annual ACA National Conference. Here is our current travel schedule with more stops to be announced. Camper fairs are in blue. If you’re interested in meeting us on one of our visits or would like to schedule a separate time to meet up when we’re in your city, let us know. Email us at [email protected] to find out more about our visits or to schedule an appointment.

If you know of prospective campers or staff in any of these areas, be sure to let them know of our visits or let us know and we’ll reach out to them. We’re happy to schedule appointments when we’re in any of these cities. We are still planning more trips so keep an eye on the NSC blog and facebook for more announcements!

Most of our campers end up at camp via word of mouth. Our families are our best salespeople and we appreciate all that they do when they recommend North Star. Enrollment is very strong for the summer of 2014 and we have done

lots of home visits and continue our travels to many cities across the country to meet prospective campers.

Do you know someone looking for camp or have someone in mind that North Star would be a good fit for? We’d be happy to tell them more about camp. Please let us know by having them contact us or completing our “Refer a Friend” form at http://bit.ly/NSCrefer You can also email the referral to [email protected] or call our office at 715-462-3254.
