The Shoulders We Stand On Rebecca Blum-Martinez, PhD UNM Language, Literacy, & Sociocultural Studies

In the many articles and books about the bilingual education movement, little is written about New Mexico’s rich history in this movement. This presentation will focus on historical information about this movement in our state. Based on a forthcoming book, the co-editor and author of this edited volume will present information about policies, programs, materials, teacher preparation programs, and court cases regarding Spanish-English and Native American programs in New Mexico.
