MUSIC NOTES IT’S CHOIR TIME! Some choirs are meeting this week! Plan on making choir a part of your fall schedule. New members are always welcome! Register now for all children’s and youth choirs by going to our website and clicking “music” under “ministries.” Fall calendars for each choir are also posted there.

NEW CHOIR ROBE CAMPAIGN We are asking the congregation to prayerfully consider helping us fund the purchase of these robes which are $165 apiece. Donations can be made in honor or in memory of a loved one. Checks can be made out to the Newnan FUMC Choir Robe Fund. Thank you!

PICTORIAL DIRECTORIES Don’t forget to get your Photo Church Directory! They are always available in the church office during the week and from Karen’s office on Sundays. The cost is $5/directory for either a hard or digital copy.

CONFIRMATION CLASS SIGNUP Confirmation Class registrations are now open online for rising 6th graders. Click the “Confirmation 2014” Banner on the home page of the website to register.

CHILDREN’S WORSHIP MINISTRY TRAINING Saturday, September 13 | $30 (includes lunch) | Hillside United Methodist in Woodstock | We will be taking a group of interested volunteers to this workshop. Contact Maria if interested in attending.

CHILDREN’S FALL SUNDAY SCHOOL KICKOFF At 9:45 a.m. this Sunday, August 10, children will gather in

the Sanctuary to celebrate their promotion to a new Sunday School class! School-age children will be promoted

according to their grade level for the upcoming school year. Infants and preschool-age children will be assigned to a

class according to their birthdates and preschool class assignments.

CANCER CARE MINISTRY TRAINING Cancer Care Ministry will begin training on September 2nd from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Henry Kitchens classroom. All

who are interested in this ministry please plan on attending. Come and join us as we begin this compassionate cancer

WEDNESDAY NIGHT FELLOWSHIP Wednesday Night Fellowship (& suppers) will start back on August 20th. Dinner will be from 5:15-6:15. More details to

STEPHEN MINISTRY TRAINING In late September, we will begin another training class for

Stephen Ministers. In it, trainees will: Be equipped to provide high-quality, Christ-centered emotional and spiritual

care to others; gain insight into the thoughts, feelings, and actions of people who are hurting; experience tremendous

BIBLE PRESENTATION ON PROMOTION SUNDAY During the 9:45 a.m. Children’s Assembly, the rising 2-year-olds will be presented with a story and picture Bible. The 2-year-olds will then go to their class for an introductory time

with their teachers. In the 11:00 a.m. worship services, 3rd graders will be presented with their Bibles. Please let Maria

know which service you will be attending this Sunday if you have a 3rd grader who will be receiving a Bible.

BIBLE STUDIES COMING SOON Registration for Fall Bible Studies will begin the week of

August 18th. Be watching the website and the next edition of The Shepherd for detailed information about each study.

All studies will begin after Labor Day.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS NEEDED Preschool Sunday School teachers are needed for this Fall!

They will be needed for this Sunday which will be a “get-to-know-you” time. The sign-up list will be posted outside the

classroom door or you may contact Maria Bowers if you are interested in serving as a Sunday School teacher. If you have

questions, please contact Maria and she will be glad to answer them. Teachers are also needed for school-age

children. Volunteers are always welcome as well!
