FOREWORDThe Annual Staff has in these few pages tried to capture some parts of the work, the play,
the seriousnest; and the gaiety which have made our high school days a magic time. We hope that
as you turn through the pages of the SESPRICHOAN in years to come, it will bring the joy of re-
miniscence to all who remember the Class of 1958.
We would like to thank all the merchants for their co-operation in making this annual
possible. The association we have had with them has been a real pleasure.
To our beloved teachers we say, "Thanks for your patience with the staff and for your gra-

The girls had an overall record of 5 wins and 21 defeats. They had 3 wins and 15 defeats in
conference play. They won one of two games in the tournament.
Belinda Sutton, a transfer from Turkey, led the team in scoring with an average of 17

BOYS' BASKETBALL
The Seven Springs boys enjoyed one of the best seasons in five years. The team was doing
very well at the beginning of the season, losing only one of six games. But a serious auto wreckinjured two first stringers, Randall Kornegay and C. C. Price. The latter was out for the season,
but Randall Kornegay came back and played the last three games of the season.
Despite of this staggering blow they had an overall record of 13 wins and 12 defeats. In
conference play they won 10 and lost 8, but lost their only game in the tournament.
The team elected Jimmy Adams and Randall Kornegay as co -captains. Latter on in the
season, Charles Daly was named acting captain in the place of injured Randall Kornegay.
Jimmy Adams, a senior, led the team in scoring with a average of 21.7 points per game.
There will be three players lost by graduation, all first stringers. They are Randall Korne-gay, Jimmy Adams, and Jimmy Holmes.

CLASS POEMNo more of bell's sweet rings
Will we seniors hearAs we graduate from Seven Springs
With each in his eye, a tear.
When we get old and retire
We will get out our yearbooksAnd look at them by the fire
And wonder how the school now looks.
Now we leave these halls
The long wooden stairs
And the memory filled walls
To begin a life of larger careers.

CLASS HISTORY
In September, 1946, a group of ambitious young-sters entered Seven Springs High School for the first
time. We were all associated with a group of stran-gers. At least, our journey through school had begun.
As we moved along from one year to another the
size of our class dwindled for different reasons, but
after eight years of work and study we accomplishedone of our many goals, graduation from elementaryschool into high school.
We returned to school in the fall of 1955 as fresh-men in high school. Mr. W. L. Creel was our home-room teacher. We chose the following class officers:
President Max SmithVice President . . . Betty Bryant SmithSecretary Bruce Ann PriceTreasurer Faith LaneReporter William EthridgeWe had many exciting things to happen during the
year including: atrip to Kennels Beach. Everyone hada wonderful time. Bruce Ann Price, Faye Singleton,
Peggy Sutton, Randall Kornegay, and Jimmy Adamsmade the basketball teams, but most of the boys madethe baseball team.
We entered our sophomore year with the samegroup as the previous year. Mrs. Imogene Price wasour homeroom teacher. We elected the following
officers:
President Peggy Sutton
Vice President Faye Singleton
Secretary Betty SmithTreasurer Larry PriceReporter Max Smith
Our junior year was a very busy and eventful one.
Mr. Gerald Waters was our home room teacher. Weelected the following officers:
President Max SmithVice President Peggy Sutton
Secretary Betty SmithTreasurer Andrew Bartlett
We had several interesting events during thatyear including the Junior -Senior Banquet and our
class play. We chose "Coveralls" as our class play.
Several members of the class had parts. We enjoyed
producing it and it proved to be very successful.
There were five very happy juniors at the end of
the year, thosewho had studied hard and had an aver-
age high enough to be marshalls. They were: Bobbie
Jean Price, chief, Jimmy Adams, William Ethridge,
Randall Ko r n e g ay , and FayeBenton. Bobbie Jean
Price won the scholarship award and Jimmy Adamsthe most athletic award.
In the fall of 1957, we entered school for our final
year in high school. Mrs. Margaret Ard was our ad-
visor. This was the goal we had all been looking for.
We welcomed two new seniors to our class, they wereJimmy Holmes and Belinda Sutton. Our class consis-
ted of nineteen students. We elected the following
class officers:
President Max SmithVice President .... William EthridgeSecretary Betty SmithTreasurer Peggy Sutton
We began consideration of our senior play, and
publication of an annual. The arrival of our class
rings was a happy day for all of us.
We chose as our play "The Skeleton Walks". Wehad lots of fun giving this play and Mrs. Ard was verypatient with us.
One of the annual events of the year was the
junior -senior banquet. The banquet which had a
"Sweetheart on Parade" theme and was given on May9th under the sponsorship of Mr. Gerald Waters. Theprogram was very exciting and everyone enjoyed it
very much.We were all proud of Faye Benton who won the
Betty Crocker Homemaker Award. Bruce Ann Pricewon second in the fashion show.
Finally we have reached thatmementous occ-asion. Commencement time is here. Our mem-ories are mingled with happiness and sadness, but
feeling thatwehad accomplished something that wouldbe very important to us.
We had hardly began to practice graduation exer-cises when we found ourselves receiving those muchdesired diplomas. Graduation was over and our high
school days were ended.

PROPHECY
It is now the year 1968. As I cruise around in mynew Atomic power ed missile, watching Edward R.
Sparrow's really hep program, "People, Places, and
Things," some familiar faces come in view.
The first face that comes into view is that of
Bruce Ann Price. She graduated from the MedicalCollege of Virginia and is now a laboratory technician
in Florida where she and her husband live.
William Ethridge has just completed a trip to
. Mars for the Navy. He is now an Admiral.I see Belinda Sutton who is now living in New York
working as a model. She attended Candy Jones'
Modeling School. Belinda paints in her spare time.
No one ever thought that Jimmy Holmes wouldget married. He really s u r p r i s e d us by bringing
home a chic little French girl who is the perfect wife.
Andrew Bartlett now owns the largest garage in
eastern North Carolina. He employs 65 people.
Don't you remember how well Bobbie Jean Priceliked math? Well, she majored in math in college and
is now working in California.
Jimmy Adams is now a professional basketball
player with the Boston Celtics. He scores more points
than any of their other players.
The engineer of the '58 class is Randall Kornrgay. He is now working in South America. The climate
really seems to agree with him.Peggy Sutton is now married and is a private
secretary to her husband. She doesn't seem to trust
anyone else.
Faye Singleton is superintendent of Nurses at
Walter Reed Hospital in New York. The largest florist in North Carolina just came
In view. It is owned by Ann Lane. She ships flowers
all over eastern United States.
Leonard E t h r id g e is now President of SevenSprings Business College. The enrollment is now 300,
Ministers must run in the family because KennethJarman is now a minister in Kinston.
Betty Bryant Smith is now a hair stylist for Uni-versial -International Studios in Hollywood.
Doris seems to have liked farm life because sheis married toafarmer and they have a farm nearSeven Springs.
I just saw a hor s e ranch. It belongs to Curtis
Price.
BillyWeeks is making a career out of the Marines. He is now a drill instructor.
I see Max Smith standing in front of his FortfMotor Company.
The last face that comes into view is that of FayeBenton. She is now working as a dietician.
The program comes to an end. I can settle backin my seat because I know that the 1958 Class has
succeeded in making their necessary contributions to
the world.

SALUTATORY
/
I as salutatorian and the members of the class of 1958 welcome you to
this graduation exercise.
Tonight as we close our high school days, we look back and think of the
four years well spent.
This is probably one of the greatest days in our lives. For some we end
our education and for some it is just the beginning.
For most of us the diploma we receive tonight has not been an easy task.
We look back and remember the nights we burned the midnight oil, studying
for an English test, working an algebra problem and catching up with an assign-
ment in physics.
Now that we have finished the first twelve years or the first lap in our
education, we are all faced with problems. Are we able to shoulder our re-
sponsibilities? Are we better prepared to serve our country and the cause of
mankind? Has going to school increased our chances for living happy lives?
These are questions each individual has to answer for himself.
Our education will help us in every field of workno matter what we under-take to do. We are living in a fast world. Times are changing day by day.
There have been changes in the past one - hundred years and even the last
fifty and I dare say the next hundred there won't be any comparison as it is
now. So, therefore let us apply our education so that we will be able to keepup with what is going on.
As we end these wonderful years of life, some will cry for joy and somewill cry for sadness. But we all do wish to give our thanks and our deepestappreciation to our parents who sent us to school, and our faithful and loyal
teachers who showed us the great need of education.
Again we bid each of you a most cordial welcome.
Salutatorian
William Alvin Ethridge

VALEDICTORY
Classmates, parents, teachers, andfriends, tonight as we are gathered hereat Seven Springs High for the last time weare both happy and sad. Happy because wehave come to the end of one of the mile-
stones in life. Sad because we are together
as a class for the last time. Four years
ago, this goal we have arrived at seemedso distant but now that we have made it andare exulting over the completion of this
course, we think how pleasant these four
years have been, and their termination is
the only cloud in our happiness.
The most difficult part on any gradua-tion program is to say goodbye. Tonight it
is my privilege and duty to try to expressfor the Senior Class of 1958 the appreciation
and affection to those from whom they part.
There is no reward that could adequate-ly conpensate the teachers for the good they
have done us. We owe more gratitude than
can be expressed in mere words, but wehope that our grateful thanks may in slight
measure show appreciation and understand-ing.
One of our greatest a s s e st s throughthese years has been our parents. Theygave us hope and courage when it seemedall else would fail. Many times we werediscouraged and wanted to quit only to betold we mustfinish. Now we are proud that
they made us keep on.
Schoolmates, we have enjoyed ourassociation with you, and we hope that youmay carry on the v/ork we are leaving youin an earnest and diligent manner, filling
our places as creditably as we have done.
Friends, may you recall only our vir-
tues, forgetting our faults, and may the
future bring you nothing but kind recollec-
tions of those who are graduating tonight.
Classmates, we have been bound bystrong ties but we are not merely class-
mates - we are dear friends. Havingshared on another joys and sorrows for solong it is hard to say good-bye. Maywealways keep happy memories of our yearstogether, for the farewell we say tonight
means all the good wishes, affection, andsorrow that words can possibly denote at
parting.
As we leave Seven Springs and go out
to seek our places in this world, we will befaced with the knowledge of how little weknow. We have finished twelve years of
school, but we are far from being wise. Weknow that there is much that we have to
learn. In this ever-changing world therewill be many problems to face and manychances to take. We feel we will be able to
overcome these because you - or parents,
teachers, and friends - have taught us to
be courageous in the face of hardships andto always strive for that which we believe
is right.
Again, I w i s h to say we have enjoyedthese years at Seven Springs together andnow on behalf of the seniors, I bid you all afond farewell.
Valedictorian
Bobbie Jean Price

With many headaches and many, many long hours of hard work, wehave finally completed this book.
Each of the following deserve credit in helping as with it. To them wewish to say "thanks". They are:
1. Mr. Creel, our Editorial advisor. He was always willing and ready to
help us.
2. The staff members who were co-operative and worked so patiently.
3. Charles Craft who really did an excellent job for the seniors on their
individual pictures,
4. The Delmar photographers who took all individual and some group pic-
tures including students and teachers.
5. Everyone including students and teachers that was not on the staff but
helped us out in their spare time.
6. The advertisers who were so nice in giving us ads to help finance it.
7. The Delmar publishers and printers who printed this volume of the
Sesprischoan for us,
8. The subscribers who boosted us by buying a copy. May each of youalways enjoy looking at it,
9. The annual Staff sincerely wishes that our annual will prove to be a
success with everybody.

YOUR CAREER AND YOUR FUTURE
Every 12 or 13 seconds, a baby is born in the United States. Nearly300 new c i t i z e n s join our ranks e v e r y hour. This rapid populationgrowth, plus the constant increase in our standard of living, have ac-celerated the need to produce more goods and services.
Companies like Du Pont, in turn, have increased research anddevelopment, constantly improving processes and facilities, in order tokeep up with growing demands. These facts are significant to highschool graduates planning to continue their education.
Your career and your future are closely linked with scientific pro-gress. But, this progress can be maintained only if you prepare your-self today for the world of tomorrow.
