Director’s Message
Dear Members, Merry December!
We're so excited to celebrate this most wonderful time of year with you! As you look at the calendar of events, there are many opportunities to join in on the festivities that the Christmas month brings.
We've just wrapped up a beautiful month of Thanksgiving and many different fundraisers. We completed our Holiday Bazaar with a whopping 40 vendors! This annual event brings us so much joy. We thank every hand that helped make this a successful fundraiser! The Winter months bring another project to the Center of providing emergency meals for each and every Meals on Wheels recipient. We successfully sent out an extra 7 meals to our recipients this year! We'd like to thank the Providence Clinic of Molalla for their generous donations of staple food items, the Oregon Food Bank, Bi Mart, and our packers: Nina Rose, and Maggie and Julie Katin for their generosity. This project reassures us that in the case of inclement weather, power outages, or any other shut down of the Center, our valued recipients won't go hungry. In addition to the donors, we'd like to extend a very special thank you to our Meals on Wheels Drivers who delivered ALL of that EXTRA food! We are blessed beyond measure by the generosity that continues to pour into these needs.
It's our heart's desire that the Center brings you cheer this Holiday season in the very way that you're needing it! Wishing you a Merry Christmas, Cecily Rose Director

Special Outings and Events!
*All suggested donations are directed to transportation and administrative costs.
Wednesday, December 27th—Mystery Lunch & Movie! Bus Leaves Center: 10:30am Suggested Donation $5
After the hectic holidays, let’s have some fun at the movies! Because of movie schedule and time changes, we will choose a movie closer to our outing date. As far as lunch goes — it’s the luck of the draw! Everyone who is signed up will write down a restaurant location and we will draw from a hat! Join us for the mysterious fun!
Sign up begins Friday, December 22nd at 9am.
*Please note that our recreational transportation program, which includes all outings, is specifically purposed for our Bus/Vans. While we understand that some people want to partake in our trips independently, in their own vehicles, we are unable to accommodate these requests into our planning. We encourage you to join us on the bus and enjoy the entire and complete Center Outing experience!
Wednesday, December 13th—Newport Seafood & Grill, Shopping at Walmart Bus Leaves Center at 10:30am Suggested Donation $6
Join us for Portland's longtime neighborhood seafood restaurant, where you can enjoy your favorite fresh seafood, delicious steaks, gourmet burgers, specialty pastas, and many more flavorful offerings! Prices range from $6.99-$21.99. At Walmart stock up on your Christmas gifts, goodies, clothing or groceries! Sign up begins Friday, December 8th at 9am.
Wednesday, December 20th—Flying Pie Pizza and Shopping at Big Lots! Bus Leaves Center at 10:30am Suggested Donation $6
Flying Pie Pizza has the “Melt in Your Mouth” kind of pizza you have been waiting for. Their pizza dough is made from scratch every day. They only use fresh ingredients for their pizzas, calzones, and sub sandwiches. Prices range from $6.50-$33.25. Then we’ll head over to Big Lots to pick up the last minute Christmas gift or something unique for yourself.
Sign up begins Friday, December 15th at 9am.

From Your MAS Board Palette Party With Pauline was a great turn out of 11 people who had a blast & their paintings were fantastic. So much talent in that room. Thank you to Wanda James, Jojie Chapman & Sandy Kundert for their help in getting paint to our painters, filling water cups, passing tools they needed. Finger food was provided by MAS & the painters enjoyed during their break.
A huge thank to Pauline Brunt for doing this Fundraisers for our Seniors. Merry Christmas to all & hope to see you in the New Years. -Sally Zeek

Metro HomeShare: Metro HomeShare is one of seven community ministries of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon. We are a shared housing program that supports homeowners to stabilize and retain their housing, while offering access to affordable rent or services to indi-viduals in need of housing. In a home share arrangement, we work with Home Providers (homeowners) to identify their needs, which may include financial burdens, loneliness, or inability to live alone and complete everyday tasks. We also work with Home Seekers (renters) who may be unable to qualify for traditional affordable housing options, facing homelessness, and cannot afford market-rate rents. We then facili-tate the matching process until a homeshare agreement has been made. Additionally, we offer case management services to support both parties for up to 2 years once a match has been made. (971) 271-5195 [email protected] metrohomeshare.org

Food Fun!
Ingredients 3 pounds fresh Brussels sprouts 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 2 cups heavy cream 3 fresh rosemary sprigs 4 garlic cloves 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Toppings: shaved Parmesan cheese, sliced fresh chives,
freshly ground black pepper
Directions
Preheat oven to 425°. Remove discolored leaves from Brussels sprouts. Remove and discard stem ends, and cut sprouts into quarters. Toss with olive oil, kosher salt, and 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper, and place in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake 25 minutes or until golden and tender, stirring half-way through.
Meanwhile, stir together cream, rosemary, and garlic in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 15 to 20 minutes or until reduced to about 1 cup. Discard rosemary and garlic. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese. Drizzle over Brussels sprouts mixture. Top with shaved Parmesan cheese, sliced chives, and black pepper, and serve immediately.
Sudoku
The classic Sudoku game involves a grid of 81 squares. The grid is divided into nine blocks, each containing nine squares.
The rules of the game are simple: each of the nine blocks has to contain all the numbers 1-9
within its squares. Each number can only appear once in a row,
column or box.
