Production Process
The film had a budget of £1.4 million so it was a low budget film, and did quite well seeing that not too much money was spent.
The film was made in 2 different locations in UK, the two places were Bradford and Willington. This showed the realism of the story because it was filmed in real places, instead of just a set up studio.

Marketing
'The Selfish Giant' relied heavily on good reviews, which on the most part it got. Empire Magazine described it as 'A terrific human drama about two boys about to be consigned to the scrapheap, with standout performances from it young leads- 4 stars'. Paul Bradshaw rated it 5/5 saying 'carried aloft by the remarkable performances of her two young leads’.
Good reviews and positive word of mouth promoted the film and it has also been released in DVD. This is important for marketing the film, as it is a low budget film so releasing it in cinemas and on DVD makes it more accessible to audiences.
Another marketing technique used by Artificial Eye was a trailer. This was specifically tailored to appeal to a British audience, It was rich in shots of typically British countryside and weather conveying an aspect of realism. The cast is made up of British actors but ultimately, this is a British film as it has British producers- Artificial Eye.
