TRANSCRIPT
The Scroll of the prophet Isaiah was
handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place
where it is written: “The Spirit of the LORD is on
me, because He has anointed me to preach good
news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim
freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for
the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the
year of the LORD’s favor.” Luke 4:17-19/Isaiah 61:1-2

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and
do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven
belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14 Greetings in the NAME of CHRIST!`
Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “to give thanks in ALL Circumstances; for
this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” I wonder how often WE really do
give thanks to God in ALL circumstances? The truth is, it is really easy to give thanks to God the Father
when life is good, but what happens when life takes a downward turn? Can we say that we truly give
thanks for those bad and ugly times that come our way in life?
Let’s be honest. When we allow emotions to drive our
response to circumstances, we are living in the flesh, we are
living by our senses—by what we see, hear, feel, and perceive.
When we are living and responding by our senses it is difficult,
if not impossible to give thanks to God. This is the way the “world lives.” God calls His children to a higher
standard..
When those bad and ugly things in life happen, it is so easy to become overwhelmed with feelings
and emotions. In those times we often forget God’s goodness and faithfulness. The result is a downward
spiral into despair, darkness, and depression. All hope seems lost. Our faith wanes.
Hebrews 12:2 reminds us that “God is the author and perfecter of our faith.” Paul tell us in Romans
10:14 that “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of God.” When we take our eyes off
God as the source of our faith we are bound to fall. Dr. James MacDonald notes that “faith only grows in
the soil of thankfulness.”
So, how can we give thanks in ALL circumstances? First, by looking up and reaching out to God in
prayer. Prayer shifts the focus from our circumstances to the ONE who already knows all about them and
is the ONE who can lift us up and will walk with us through those circumstances.
Second, as you pray remember God’s past faithfulness and goodness. Start by remembering to thank
God for His provision of redemption through Jesus Christ. Without Christ we are lost. Thank God for His
provision for your daily NEEDS, and His many BLESSINGS. There is a lot of wisdom in that old hymn,
“Count Your Blessings.”
When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord has done…
Count your many blessings, name them one by one.
Remember as you pray to include Scripture. God loves to hear Scripture—it is one of His love languages.
Third, remember to thank God for His providence on your behalf. Providence is God’s seeing in
advance and making a way where there seems to be no way. Remember Elijah and the widow at
Zarephath in 1 Kings 17:8-16. Remember Peter being freed from prison in Acts 12:5-19. All are acts of
God’s providence. The God of ALL hope is always working behind the scenes on behalf of His children.
That’s the GOOD NEWS!
Fourth, remember to thank God for His power and presence in the midst of the storm. All throughout

...Give thanks in all circumstances; for

For I was hungry and you gave me food.
Matthew 25:35
How do you feed almost 500 people in a small
church?
The most important element...follow scripture.
For we are God’s workmanship, created in
Christ Jesus to do good works, which God
prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10
Second...willing workers to follow that
scripture.
Saturday, October 28, these two elements
came together, Willing Workers, Happy
Workers, spreading the Love and absolute Joy
of working for our Lord Jesus Christ, doing
ministry!
We had: two churches, one community center,
one Ruritan Club, One Cause—YCM feeding the
hungry of our community. Mix it all up and a
miracle happens! “GOD.” All we did was say OK
and we share His glory, His power, and His
never-ending LOVE.
Thanks Everybody!!!!

Each $8 ticket purchased 40 cans of food for YCM.
Scripture God tells us He will never leave us nor forsake us. Nowhere is God’s presence made more REAL
than in the storms of life—IF we have eyes to see and ears to hear.
Finally, remember to give God thanks because He is faithful to keep His promises. There is nothing
more comforting than standing on the promises of God when the storms of life threaten to overwhelm
you. God and His promises are bigger than any problem we face in life. Focus on them and not your
circumstances and you will experience His peace that passes all understanding.
As children of God—we are called to be “counter-cultural.” We are called to live differently and we
are called to remember God’s ways are not our ways or the world’s ways. Remembering to give God
thanks in ALL circumstances is His way of reminding us we are not alone and that we have an AWESOME
God who loves and cares for us. In the Grip of God’s GRACE,
Rick Page
