Analysis of an Artists Official Web Page -

The Script

Page 2: The Script Web Analysis:

Once I opened up the web page, the site had taken me straight to a mixture of black and white and colour images of the band, promoting their new album, this gives them a fresh and cool new band image. This may have been done so the viewers eye concentrates on the subject itself, rather than the distraction from the colours. Throughout the website the colour scheme is black and white, this gives the band a

strong and determined representation, rather than a cool and calm atmosphere which we saw from Jason Mraz’s home page (previous analysis). This colour scheme does not only symbolise a powerful band, it

also helps with The Script sophisticated image. This peaceful colour scheme is interrupted when coloured images appear on the moving slide show in the centre of the page. This then sets in a happy-go-lucky and

carefree characters in the band which I admire.

When you scroll down the home page, we can clearly see the innocent and peaceful colour scheme continues. This gives the band a up-to-date, elegant and modern representation, suggesting that their music is very unique yet mysterious because of their enigmatic colour scheme. I admire how they are

advertising their upcoming album, their tour dates easy to see and especially their live stream of tweets because it allows the user to get an insight into the bands personalities and gives each band member

their own characteristics. We can see in the top left hand corner the bottom half of the band. They are all mainly dressed in black which gives them a rocky and secretive edge. Therefore, this may even give a

hint to sub genres included in their upcoming album.

I LOVE this web page because it is diverse and unique in comparison to the previous pages I looked at. The main colour scheme is neutral colours such as browns, blacks and whites. The light brown seems to

be textured like paper, which gives off a comfort, environmental and simplicity band representation, giving them a cool and calm atmosphere. This was actually their previous home page layout before it

had been updated to what it is now. The band may have done this so they still keep attached to previous fans, therefore gaining both secondary and primary audiences. The use of colours sets the band image as carefree and humble , using the two hands (2nd album cover) portraying a connection between them

and their fans. When I instantly saw this, it suggested a friendly, elegance and sophisticated representation which we can therefore see the link between this layout and the updated version as they

are keeping on the same theme – elegance and sophistication.
