THE EVIDENCE: A LONG HISTORY OF BAD VOTES

lawyersattheexpenseofMissouribusinessesdespitehavingaconflictofinterestbecauseherhusband,DavidSteelman,isoneofthestatestoptriallawyers.

Insomecases,themoneytrailisnthardtofollow.OnePACcalledPowertothePeople(namedafterhercampaignslogan)contributed$175,000tohercampaign,mostlythroughintermediaries.ThePACis
almostexclusivelyfundedbytriallawyers.AnotherPACwithextensivelinkstotriallawyers,named
CommitteeforCommonSenseValues,playedasignificantroleinfunnelingtensofthousandsofdollarstoSteelman.
SteelmanhasalsotakenthousandsincashfromtheMissouri
AssociationofTrialAttorneys(throughMissouriFreedom,aPACunderadifferentname),acceptingcontributionsin2003,2005and2008.
Triallawyerswerethebiggestsupportersofhercampaignbyahugemargin.Steelmans links to the trial lawyer lobby are in stark
opposition to what the Tea Party really stands for.
