Annexure 1:

Planning an Event

Prepare a proposal for any one of the following events.

Your class is planning to:

• Honour someone special in the community.

• Congratulate a winning team.

• Celebrate a religious festival in a community/colony

1. Instructions : You need to decide on:

• when the event will occur and its location

• your budget should not exceed more than Rs. 10,000/-

• the type of decoration

• entertainment of your choice

• refreshments of your choice

• seating arrangements

• relevant graphics, flyers, programmes that will enhance your proposal.

2. Activities

• Prepare a proposal to show how you can raise funds for the event.

• You may raise (solicit) not more than 20% of your total funds from donors.

• Should you choose to do so, a sample letter/ email must be included.

• Give a detailed description of your activity by showing:

- source of your income

- how you raised the funds

- the methods/activities used to raise funds.

• Show samples of the raffle sheet, bingo card, etc in case some games are played. (These must be

included in your appendix)

3. Research: Prepare a table to show the:

- unit cost and quantity of each item required

- total cost of each item

- source of each item

- total estimated cost of the proposed event.

4. Analysis

• Use a suitable statistical graph like a bar graph to illustrate the estimated cost of the proposed

event - decoration, refreshments, entertainment, etc.

� Explain why your proposal is well planned. For instance, maximum number of invitees, total

budget, expenditure, choice of food, etc.

5. Conclusion

Write a conclusion describing two (2) personal benefits gained from doing this project based on the

Subject Chemistry and Biology

Work Specification :

1. TASK 1: To collect water samples from various sources. (E.g; tap

water,lake water, underground water, etc….)

2. TASK 2: To test the collected samples for the acidity and alkalinity of

water and to test hardness of water.

3. TASK 3: To find out reasons of eutrophication in water bodies, its

effect on the other living organisms in that water body.

To know various pathogens in water and the diseases caused by them.

Instructions / Guidelines :

1. TASK 1:

a. Collect the samples of water from atleast three sources.

b. Use glassware to store the samples.

c. Take a photograph of each sample and record your

observations

2. TASK 2:

a. Use any homemade indicators such as turmeric, red cabbage

or Hibiscus for testing the pH of the samples.

b. Use soap solution to find the type of water.

c. Amount of lather produced should be recorded by taking the

photographs.

in them .

b. Record your observations by clicking pictures.

c. Find out the reasons for Eutrophication in different water

bodies.

d. Study the effects of above on other living organisms (any two).

e. Research on different pathogens present in water and the

diseases caused by them.

f. You can consult a physician and take a note on the cure of

water born diseases. Record the interview with the doctor and

insert it in your presentation.

Note:

a. The entire project should be presented in a Power point

presentation.

b. The presentation should not exceed 10 slides.

c. Slides should include introduction, research, observations,

inference, pictures, videos and audio recordings.

d. The presentation should be concluded by bibiliography and

References.

e. Record your learning in this interdisciplinery activity.
