Thanks, Fran Islanders in the News: Skagit Valley Herald reported that on February 17 th our Samish Island resident, Rob Martin, was awarded the Rotary Foundation’s highest honor in recognition of his 37 years of volunteer service. According to the Rotary Foundation the Distinguished Service Award is given to no more than 50 Rotary members each year. Beverly Harrington, president of Burlington Rotary, said the award is a rare honor! Rob, we are tremendously proud to announce this outstanding award, congratulations! 2017 Island Directories are now available at Blau Oyster for $4, and they include a “yellow pages” section of Island services. Skagit Land Trust news: Watch for a Skagit Valley Herald insert on April 19th for 25 ideas of free things to do on Trust properties in honor of their 25 th Anniversary! We need help with food, set up and clean up. If you can volunteer, please contact: Ann at [email protected] or Nurith at [email protected] Samish Island 21 st Annual Arts Festival coming up July 29 th : We’ll be looking for new vendors and fresh ideas to enhance our fun island festival at our meeting next on April 13 th at 5 pm, at S.I.C.C. on Blue Heron Rd. Meet the staff, take a tour, or just hang out on the beach. We will again host a Spaghetti Dinner ($5 suggested donation) in the main lodge immediately following!
