o With regret I announce that John Inksten a former member passed away 2 days before Christmas.
o A warm welcome to everyone on this special night where we honour our special members with well
deserved awards for their dedicated service to Rotary & the community.
Presentation of Awards.
The Paul Harris Fellow Awards
Whilst we have some awards to present tonight, there is one which I will present earlier
than the others, as we do have some special guests who would like to send the rest of the
evening with us.
Many members have travelled overseas to serve. Some have served significantly within our
local community, regardless of where they have served, they have served putting service
above self.
Tonight I recognise particular members and a partner,
with a recognition titled after our founder, Paul Harris.
The Paul Harris Fellowship is named after Paul Harris, who
founded Rotary over 100 years ago. The Fellowship was
established in his honour in 1957 to express appreciation &
recognition for a contribution of $1000 to the Rotary
Foundation .Click on this for more info:
http://rotary9520.org/Page/paul-harris-fellow
Every Paul Harris Fellow receives a pin, medal & certificate
when they become a fellow.
Tonight we have the honour and pleasure of recognising
our awardees as they become Paul Harris Fellows and as a
special expression of appreciation from The Rotary Club of
Campbelltown.

Vince Belperio, Tita Trotta & President Elizabeth
Our first Award- Paul Harris Fellow –Stephany Martin- Award presented by President Elizabeth -
Tonight is a member who has contributed a great deal to our club during the over six years they have
been a Rotarian. This member was responsible for attendance as their first club service role. On a
personal note, I was also this Rotarian's mentor.
This member threw herself in to club and community service,
contributing at club level through her directorship of the International
and Rotary Foundation Committee; working with other members to
propose a Global Grant project with a total project value of over
$60,000.
This member has been passionate about international service, being the
instigator of the International Womens Day dinner in 2015; and working
with other members to make it bigger and better in 2016, raising over
$12,000 in one night towards programs related to our international
community.
But the level of Rotary where this member has significantly contributed
is at District level. This member was the key instigator for the Rotaract
Club of Sturt being chartered, and jointly received the District 9520
Best New Generations Project Award at District Changeover in 2015.
< Pic : DG Bob Cooper, Stephany Martin & President Elizabeth

She was a delegate to Rotary Australia's National Youth Summit in 2015, a summit where she played a key
role in developing the future membership and engagement strategies for our young people.
This member joined the District RYLA/RYPEN Committee in 2015-16; establishing and running RYPEN
Sunraysia in 2016; doubling the attendance in 2017. This member has served as Chair of this Committee for
the past year; growing both programs significantly.
In April 2017, this member spoke at the District Conference about her experience at both RYPEN and RYLA,
commended by the District Governor for her presentation; and later received on behalf of her committee
the District 9520 Best New Generations Project Award.
This member served on the District Training Committee in 2016-17 and currently serves on the District
Protection Committee.
Unfortunately, she has not been able to participate in everything she has wished to, breaking her arm at the
Adelaide University library two weeks before our club's 2015 Rotahomes project trip, which would have been
her first journey overseas.
She currently serves on our Youth Committee.
Recently, I had the honour to be present when this member was named the South Australian Young Citizen of
the Year for 2018, complimenting her City of Campbelltown Young Citizen of the Year recognition.
Tonight, I understand she becomes the youngest Rotarian in District 9520 to receive this honour.
She was the youngest member when first joining Rotary at the Club of Wentworth, who have sent a letter
saying how proud they are of her achievements & wish her all the best .
As members would well know, of course, I speak of Stephany Martin.
Stephany would you please come forward.
Stephany Martin you have set an example for many by your contributions to our club and the broader
community. Your personal involvement makes our community a better place in which to live.
I am honoured to present you with this Paul Harris pin, certificate and medal.
The symbolism in this recognition is to say thank you for making a
difference to our club, our community and in the lives of less
fortunate people around the world. By accepting this pin you will join
a family of well over 950,000 Paul Harris Fellows worldwide.
Stephany gave a brief response and “…, I am humbled & thank you
to Rotary, family, friends & mentor Damian.”
o DG Bob Cooper then gave a few words , congratulating Stephany
& the award was for recognising her for doing a great
outstanding job, in the local community , nationally & overseas…
He also acknowledged that our Cub had successfully received a
District Grant to the value of $5000 for The Dementia & Sensory
Garden.

Our second award- Paul Harris Fellow-Vince Belperio- Award presented by President Elizabeth
This person has been a member for just over 6 years.
Joining in 2012, this member was initially on the Fellowship Committee for two years, moving to
International in 2014.
Since joining, he has been involved in our annual Porchetta night, chairing this committee, in addition
to co-ordinating our presence at Carnevale. A very significant role.
This member followed this stint with moving to the Vocational
Committee.
In 2015 he attended the Rotary Leadership Institute. At which
point he was also the Chair of the Vocational Committee.
As the Chair of Vocational, he oversaw our club visits to workplaces
and other community centres such as to the North Eastern
Community Hospital, Adelaide Oval, the Gorge Wildlife Park,
Athelstone Post Office, Police Historical Museum and many more.
He was also responsible for the Business Excellence and Pride of
Workmanship Awards.

He has been well supported by his wife Deborah.
Vince Belperio, could you please come forward.
Vince Belperio you have set an example for many by your contributions to our club and the broader
community. Your personal involvement makes our community a better place in which to live.

difference to our club, our community and in the lives of less fortunate
people around the world. By accepting this pin you will join a family of
well over 950,000 PH Fellows worldwide.
Vince gave a few words …” Its an honour to serve; you do it because you
enjoy it; The great thing about this Club is there is such a reservoir of
knowledge & experience that if you have your training wheels on you can
always ask & get help when needed . Nothing is too much trouble when
you are surrounded by willing & able members aiming to put your ideas
into practice.. ..Thank you very much to you all.

Our 3rd Award-Paul Harris Fellow-Tita Trotta- Award presented by President Elizabeth
This partner of a member joined the family of Rotary almost
twenty years ago.
Always willing to help, she has been one of the stalwarts as part of our
Carnevale fundraiser, and has been involved in our annual Porchetta
night since the beginning where you could mainly finding her in the
kitchen.
She has also recently been involved at the Shed, where she assists on
Tuesday mornings, Friday mornings, and also on the Sale days on the
counter.
I speak of Tita Trotta. .( Pic Above : DG Bob Cooper, Tita Trotta , husband Paul & President Elizabeth )
Tita, if you could please come forward.
Tita Trotta you have set an example for many by your contributions to your community. Your personal
involvement makes our community a better place in which to live.
I am honoured to present you with this Paul Harris pin, certificate and medal.
To all: The symbolism in this recognition is to say thank you for making
a difference to our club, our community and in the lives of less
fortunate people around the world. By accepting this pin you will join a
family of well over 950,000 PH Fellows worldwide.

much. She has had a wonderful time with Rotary both on her own and

Our 4th Award- Sapphire Pin – Jim Silvestri- Award presented by President Elizabeth
A multiple Paul Harris Fellow is a Paul Harris Fellow who has
contributed, or in who name is contributed, additional US $1000
gifts to the Foundation. Tonight we recognise one of our members
as a recipient of a Sapphire Pin.
This member joined our club in 1995. Initially serving on the Fundraising
committee.
This member has served as both the Property and Attendance Officer.
He has served on all of our club committees over his 22 years, including
the Carnevale Committee.
Pic > DG Bob Cooper, Jim Silvestri & President Elizabeth
He was Director of International from 2003 to 2005, when we submitted a matching grant application with
the Rotary Club of Madras Pallava, to provide improved water, toilet, kitchen and classroom furniture for a
dilapidated school in Madras, with a project cost of approximately $30,000. In addition we sent to sea
containers overseas through DIK, which contained equipment from Norwood-Morialta High School and
Mercedes College..
This person was also the Carnevale Chair in 2007.
During his Presidency, the club agreed to the development of what is now Rotary Park on the banks of the
Torrens, we held a Samoan night, with school children from Samoa the beneficiaries of funds raised to the
tune of $21,000. We also sent a Group Study Exchange team to Taiwan.
We also had two vocational visits, one to the Payneham Mausoleum and the Assagio Restaurant. We held a
progressive dinner and a night at the Royal Flying Doctors hangar
at Adelaide Airport.
We hosted RYLA, and provided support to disadvantaged youth in
our area with sporting and recreational equipment.
He served as Vice President during Frank Orlando's term as
President.
At District level, this person has recently served as the Deputy
Chair of International Service.
I wish to congratulate Jim Silvestri, and award him on behalf of
the Rotary Club of Campbelltown a Sapphire Pin for his contribution
to the club and the community.
Jim responded by saying Thank you so much… They say it is better
to give than to receive, & I wholeheartedly agree But I have got a
Lot out of Rotary ! Thanks again.

Our 5th Award- Sapphire Pin – Tony Uren- Award presented by Reg
Neale
President Elizabeth, Guests and fellow Rotarians. It is my pleasure
this evening to introduce one of our members to be presented with a
second Sapphire pin. This member joined the Rotary Club of
Campbelltown over 45 years ago. His list of service to this club is long
so I will summarise as best as I can but it is important to acknowledge his
service.
>Pic : DG Bob Cooper, Tony Uren, Presenter- Reg Neale & Pres. Elizabeth
Firstly, he has served on almost every committee, Vocational 2 years,

This member has also served on the board. He has served as Membership Director, Fellowship Director,
Community Director and Vocational Director. He has also served as Secretary, Treasurer twice
and Vice President 4 times.
He has also served as sergeant twice, Program Officer 3 times and 3 times he has been in charge of public
relations.
Early on he also was on Rotary information and Polio Plus committees.
This member has also been involved at district level and was on ROMAC committee for 4 years from 2004 to
2007.
He was presented with a PHF in 1986 and had a sapphire pin added in 2004.
Some other outstanding achievements were being on District Conference committee on two occasions, being
chairman for the committee in 1985.
He has also been Auction Convenor in 1997 and was Art Show convener in 1988 and 1989.
He served as President of this club in 1983.
He was recognised for his work in the wider community in 2005 when
he was award an OAM.
Many Rotarians are supported by their partners who contribute with
excellent support towards our clubs work. This member’s late wife
was no exception and was a Great support to him and the club.
She was recognised with a PHF in in 2011 for her work in the
community. We were all saddened by the passing of one of our
wonderful partners Eunice.
Please now help me welcome forward one of my best friends and
fellow
Rotarian, Past President Tony Uren.
Tony thanked Reg & the Club for presenting his award & despite
the recent sad passing of his wife Eunice life goes on & Rotary was a
big part of both of their lives & he will continue that legacy.

Our 6th Award-Saphire Pin- Peter Rumbelow- Award presented by Eric Webb
President Elizabeth, Guests and Rotarians,
It gives me much pleasure to present to you a Rotarian of
our club;
Joining in 1973, 44.3 years ago, he has served with distinction the
many rolls within the club over the years…
His dedication and enthusiasm has never waned, no matter how
onerous the task…
I will briefly highlight some:
International service, Project and Community Service, becoming
President in 1982.
Pic > DG Bob Cooper, Peter Rumbelow, presenter Eric Webb & President Elizabeth
Then in 1985 the District Conference “with the theme The Campbells are Coming”, complete with the Lock
Ness Monster at Thorndon Park Lake and the crowning moment – the haggis, that we all sampled at the
District Conference Banquet, some more, some less, it tasted like brain.
If you haven’t guessed who it is, he chaired the formation of a new club in 1989, then Art show Convener in
1990…
The list continues: District Conference Director 1991-2, rising to the high and most demanding position,
Bulletin Edition 1995, and much more: Treasurer 2005, Secretary 2007, Vice President 2008, Sergeant 2011,
Vice President 2015…This Rotarian has been very active in District involvement also: GSE Team 2006-7, He
was Team Leader of a very successful exchange to USA.
Rotary Student Exchange, has occupied much time having hosted: Heini Lampela (Finland) 1982,
Gwen Rosenbergen (USA) 1982, Irma Hess (Mexico) 1984, Erk Wienen (Germany) 1991
P a g e | 7
I would like to share with you all some fond memories that I have, on the occasion when Joe & Jule
Hudspith you guessed it Peter & Jen Rumbelow & Valma and I went to Finland to Heini Lampela’s wedding:
The six of us were given pride of place next to the Bridal table, but there was a catch. As the Lampelas
are a musical family, we at Heini’s request, had to sing for our supper. The song was ‘Sunrise Sun Set’. All
the other 4 sang beautifully, but Joe and I, especially me, can’t sing a note in tune, we just mimed. We had
a great time in the land of the midnight sun.
Peter was the driving force taking over from Milton (due to illness) in presenting the club 50th Birthday
Celebrations in a most professional manner.
Peter also found time to be an Assistant Governor when asked in 1997-99.
Peter was also Campbelltown’s Citizen of the Year in 2005, he’s a Paul
Harris Fellow and Sapphire Pin.
In all these endeavours and achievements Jen Rumbelow has always given
of her best support and in recognition was awarded a PHF in 2008.
I present to you all Peter Rumbelow, who has given service above self.
Peter responded by saying that Rotary serves you up challenges that
make you raise the bar & roll up your sleeves to get things done & Rotary
gives you much more than you give Rotary….

Our 7th Award-Business Excellence Award- Spring Gully Foods
Could I please ask Eric Webb and Kevin Webb to come forward.
It is my pleasure, to welcome charter member Eric Webb and former
member Kevin Webb for a special presentation tonight
Many of you will be aware that Eric is the chairman of Spring Gully Foods
and Kevin is the managing director.
In 2013 Spring Gully went into voluntary administration with debts of
close to $5m.
In a time of crisis, Spring Gully’s executive management had some serious
decisions to make regarding the future of the business.
> Pic : Kevin & Eric Webb very happy to receive their award from President Elizabeth
They could have chosen the path of least resistance but instead they chose to work through the issues,
enter a dead of arrangement, repay their creditors and protect the jobs of the many people employed in
their company.
With support from the community, predominantly in South Australia, in buying their locally produced
products, Spring Gully cleared its debt to both secured and non-secured creditors in December 2017.
More than just clearing the debt, they paid their creditors 102 cents in the dollar as a gesture of goodwill
for their support.
The decisions made by the Spring Gully executive and in particular Kevin and Eric exemplify the values of
Rotary and as a result it is my absolute pleasure to present to Eric and Kevin
A Business Excellence award for Spring Gully Foods on behalf of the Rotary Club of Campbelltown.
Both Eric & Kevin responded. Kevin said it was a real surprise. He was brought up by Eric with Rotary , its
ideals & its message “The Four Way Test “ He is proud to stand with his Dad on this special occasion & is
thrilled to accept the award on behalf of Spring Gully & his brother Ross who was unable to attend tonight.

Ralph Holmes gave a Report.
President Elizabeth, Rotarians and Guests
It is a pleasure to report on behalf of Mal and Val Hansen on the fellowship visit to
the Neale property at Punyelroo last weekend.
Four of our great CROE supporters from Victoria, Paula and Charlie
Rupe and Anthony and Anne Hutchison and also Shirley Gibbs from
Loxton were already there by the time Eric, Jenny and I arrived with
our two older grandsons. Indeed, Charlie and Hutchy had helped Mal
remove a Willow tree stump and other debris from the edge of the river prior to our
arrival so Eric and I escaped the working bee.
Tm and Gaye Fischer, also fantastic supporters of CROE, along with Janet and David Munro were also there
for Friday night and a great BBQ and shared meal.
Brian Stevens, David Richards, Ian and Pat Reddy, Heather and Benny Bosman and
their two grandsons joined the group for a very enjoyable and relaxing day on
Saturday. Pat and Anne enjoyed a paddle on the river in the Neale family paddle boat
and the four grandsons had a ball on a doughnut tethered to the jetty, the paddle
boat and a kyak.
While some visitors departed on Saturday, Mary and Bruce Davis joined the group for
another great shared meal with lots of chatter. Sadly Jenny took a tumble when she failed to step
high enough over the electric fence and is home nursing a very sore right shoulder, sore eye and
wounded pride.
On behalf of everyone, I say a great big thankyou to Reg, Jeff and the Neale families for allowing us to
enjoy their property and river frontage.
Thankyou.
Shed Report by Brian Stevens.
A steel run is planned for This Saturday 17/2 so will be needed.
from 8.00am for about one hour.
PS. 1) Please do not bring any large items to Shed without checking with Shed
Committee first.
2) Do NOT tell anyone we will pick up ALL items they may wish to donate.
This rarely happens and may leave that person in somewhat of a pickle.
Our next Shed Sale is Saturday week 24/2.
We have decided to hold our March sale on 31/3,which is Easter Saturday,
as recent experience.has demonstrated making changes is not a good idea. Pic> Wacka & friend at the Shed

Fines Session by Sergeant Benny –
Benny recited a Poem by Pam Ayres & whoever could relate to it was invited to contribute a $1.
Lots of hands were raised so the poem resonated with many, all giving their dollar coin to clever Sgt Benny !
I have a little Satnav, It sits there in my car
A Satnav is a driver's friend, it tells you where you are.
I have a little Satnav, I've had it all my life
It's better than the normal ones, my Satnav is called a wife.
It gives me full instructions, especially how to drive
"It's sixty miles an hour", it says, "You're doing sixty five".
It tells me when to stop and start, and when to use the brake
And tells me that it's never ever, safe to overtake.
It tells me when a light is red, and when it goes to green
It seems to know instinctively, just when to intervene.
It lists the vehicles just in front, and all those to the rear
And taking this into account, it specifies my gear.
I'm sure no other driver, has so helpful a device
For when we leave and lock the car, it still gives its advice.
It fills me up with counselling, each journey's pretty fraught
So why don't I exchange it, and get a quieter sort?
Ah well, you see, it cleans the house, makes sure I'm properly fed
It washes all my shirts and things, and keeps me warm in bed!
Despite all these advantages, and my tendency to scoff,
I only wish that now and then, I could turn the bugger off. by Pam Ayres

Social Day Cruise on the 'One & All' - March 2018 Following a very successful Youth Sailing Experience voyage to Port Lincoln, some Rotary Clubs expressed an interest in taking part in a more relaxed, social, sail for their members and friends on the 'One & All.' The inaugural February twilight cruise proved very popular and booked out quickly, leaving many people disappointed.
We are very happy to announce that another social cruise has been organised on Sunday, March 4th 2018, departing from Port Adelaide
at 10:00 am and returning at 3:00 pm. The Day Sail includes delicious on board catering, tea, coffee and cool drinks as we cruise around the Gulf! The cost will be $100 per head, dependent on our filling the ship, which can carry 40 passengers. Positions on this cruise are now on sale to all Rotarians and their friends.
Please distribute this information around your Club and in your Bulletin. This is an ideal Club social event and you will be supporting an exciting new Rotary Youth program. Book promptly to
avoid disappointment!
