When you applied for graduation an automatic $60.00 e:raduation fee is posted toyour financial account by the University Treasurer, 112 Dowdy AdministrationBuilding. This fee includes the cost of your degree and leatherette degree cover.

If you need an official transcript prior to, or after your degree has been posted(after commencement)

The cost of each transcript is $4.00. Feel free to contact the UniversityRegistrar's office regarding their transcript requests methods (336)334-7595.

A maximum of six (6) semester hours of transfer credits for graduate courses maybe accepted toward completion of a graduate degree. Students wishing to transfercredits must submit official transcripts to their academic advisor for initialapproval. The final approval and signatures of the academic departmentchairperson. and the Dean of Graduate School are required before the credits areposted in the student database by the (University Registrar).

If these credits were used to earn a bachelor's degree. please be advised that thesame credits will not be accepted by the Graduate School or the UniversityRegistrar. If the credits were not used. please have your advisor submit a supportletter with the form stating that the undergraduate course(s) were not countedtowards your bachelor's degree. Bring form and letter to Graduate School.If you have transfer credits that will be used towards a master's or doctoraldegree. please complete and submit the transfer form as soon as possible(the semester before you expect to complete your degree requirements).

You must register for (one) 1 semester hour during the University's registrationperiod, and submit another "Application for Graduation" to the Graduate School"for graduation, 120 Gibbs by the specified deadline date (see academic calendar).

If you are enrolled in an academic program and the comprehensive examination isrequired to graduate you must:

Ensure that you check the University's academic calendar each semester to seewhen the comprehensive examination is scheduled, you must officially enroll incourse #788. (comprehensive exam) during the University's registration period.

If you have completed all of your coursework and onlu have to take thecomprehensive exam, you must be officially enrolled at the University and therequired tuition must be paid during the semester/term that the comp exam willbe administered.

You must confer with your academic advisor if there are questions that relate toany exam fees and fee deadline dates (Human Development and Services majors).

The results of this examination will be posted at the end of the semester on youracademic transcript.

If you register for the exam and do not take it that semester, you must drop or goto the University Registrar to withdraw from 788. prior to the withdrawal deadlinedate. A "W" will appear on your transcript. In order to take it later, you mustregister and pay tuition a second time. You must pass the comprehensiveexamination before you can be cleared for a degree.

Some academic programs offer the comp exam in the summer.Please check with your academic department to see if this is an option.

If you applied for graduation and are required to complete a thesis ordissertation to complete degree requirements this semester or(summer term) you must adhere to the deadline dates set by the GraduateSchool.

If you are unable to submit your documents by the deadline dates, pleasenotify bv (email) Ms. Beverly McLeod, and request that you graduationapplication be "withdrawn" for the semester or term.

il'HESIS/DISSERTATION!BINDINGFEE:

In addition to the graduation fee, students who are completing thesis anddissertation work are required to pay $8.00 per copy (4 copies required),one for student, one copy for major professor, one copy for academicchairperson, and one copy will remain in the library for the University'srecord. Total cost is $32.00 for binding, graduation fee (degree) is $60.00.

HONORS-RECOGNITION--GRADUATESTUDENTS:

Master's and doctoral students must maintain a 3.0 grade point averagethroughout their matriculation period at the University.

If you maintain a 4.0 grade point average throughout your period ofmatriculation, your name will be listed in the annual Commencement programbooklet.

The School of Graduate Studies does not "clear" I!raduate students for del!rees.Clearance forms are sent to each academic department to be completed by theacademic advisor/chairpersons. This form will be submitted to the GraduateSchool after Saturday, May 10th•

The Graduate School will not be in a position to respond to graduation clearanceinquiries. If you completed all of your program requirements, the degree awardeddata will be posted in the student database, if you do not complete requirementsyou will need to re-apply and register during the semester or summer term thatyou will. Please be in touch with your advisor as it pertains to coursework,projects, ect.
