The children were delighted with their gift choices and very excited to take them home. Thank you to the volunteers who supported the P&C FathersDay stall. Thank you also to all fathers and grandfathers who braved the rain to attend our White Ribbon FathersDay Breakfast on Friday morning. It was a fantastic morning and enjoyed by all who attended. Thank you to the teachers and mums who helped cook and serve breakfast. Mrs Simula returns today from her overseas travels. We welcome her back and look forward to hearing about her adventures. We wish the Dancesport students good luck as they attend the competition today. The students have worked really hard to prepare for the event. Thank you to Mr Wann and Mrs Begg for supporting the students and facilitating their participation in this event. On a personal note, I would like to thank the students, staff and community for welcoming me to Woronora River PS. I have enjoyed getting to know the students and working with the staff this term. Annette Wein Relieving Principal Public Speaking Finalists Our Stage Public Speaking Finals were held during Week 7. All students presented speeches clearly and confidently and provided topics of great variety. It was exciting to see so many parents attend and the competitions were very close. Our successful public speakers will now represent Woronora River Public School at the Zone Public Speaking competition at Illawong Public School on Wednesday 21 st September. These students are Lacey, Koby and Chanelle. State Touch Football championships Congratulations to Emma L who was a member of the Sydney East Touch Football team who competed at the State Championships in Coffs Harbour during Week 6. The Sydney East Girls won the competition, making them the reigning State Champions. Congratulations to Emma for your participation and selection in this elite level of school sport. LMBR Training Due to preparation for LMBR, it would be appreciated if all accounts could be finalised as soon as possible. Invoices have been sent home as well as reminders in some instances. Last week Woronora River PS celebrated our fathers and grandfathers through our Fathers’ Day stall and breakfast. The children were delighted with their gift choices and very excited to take them home. Thank you to the volunteers who supported the P&C Fathers’ Day stall. been invoiced for please notify the office as soon as possible. Woronora River Public School will transition to the new NSW public schools’ finance system and a new bank account on 17 October 2016. To ensure a smooth transition, there will be changes to the way we accept parent or carer payments.

EFTPOS Payments We will not be able to accept EFTPOS payments between 10 October and 17 October 2016. Please ensure that you have made any outstanding EFTPOS payments before 10 October 2016. From 18 October 2016, EFTPOS payments will be accepted as before.

Cash and Cheque Payments Between 12 October 2016 and 17 October 2016, we will also not be able to accept payments by cash or cheque as we prepare to close our current bank account and transition to the new one. Please ensure that you have made any outstanding cash or cheque payments before 12 October 2016. From 18 October 2016, cash and cheque payments will be accepted as before. WRPS Family Science Night Back by popular demand is our annual Family Science Evening. The Science Evening will be held from 5.30pm – 7pm on Thursday 15th September and will follow a similar format to last year. Students and their parents will be able to rotate from one activity to the next, learning a little about the scientific elements of each challenge along the way. Thank you to Mrs Begg for her organisation of this event. HOTSCOS Science Enrichment Day Congratulations to our Science representatives who attended the HOTSCOS Science Enrichment Program at Woronora River Public School. The event, hosted by Mrs Begg, offered students the opportunity to explore coding and robotics. The event was a success and positive feedback has been received. Thank you to Mrs Begg for your continuing passion and interest in Science. P & C Meeting This week’s P & C meeting was postponed. The next meeting will now be held on Monday 12th September in the school library. All are welcome.
