IWatch
Everybody has been waiting for an IWatch for a very long time, since the IPod 4th generation came out in late 2011 and early 2012. When the IPhone 6 came out, it came with IOS 8, so that means that the IWatch will automatically come with it too. This watch is different than most watches as you can see. Most Apple products are touch screen which means that this watch is going to possess this feature as well. It has a calling system in it, as well as a music-listening option. You can choose one of any theme you want for it. The IWatch is a truly a good quality device that practically calls consumers’ names. Now let’s get serious. There’s basically one thing everybody notices about the IWatch, that it is basically the IPhone, IPod, and iPad all into one , but just smaller with an extra feature, A WATCH PROGRAM. That’s basically the only thing people notice that’s not different about this product. The overall price for an IWatch is $349 dollars which is worth it for a lot of people. Overall, this IWatch seems to be worth all the pennies to pay off this incredible piece of technology.

Staff Interviews
An Interview with Mrs. Sheron
Mrs. Sheron, as you may or may not know, is the 7th grade administrator here at Ridgeview. Surpris-ingly, she is originally from New Jersey. She moved out in 1996 and attended McDaniel College in West-minster, MD, and Johns Hopkins. She played volley-ball as a teen, and still plays for fun. Her first job was at a dry cleaner’s.
Mrs. Sheron also spent 11 years teaching mid-dle school social studies at various middle schools around Montgomery County such as Silver Spring, Til-den, and Lakelands. She is married and has a two year-old son named Cameron. She is the owner of 3 dogs and 2 cats, and enjoys running and reading to this very day.
Our dear staff member has been here at Ridgeview for two years. Last year she was new and administered 6th grade. Hopefully she’ll stay here even longer! Mrs. Sheron is ob-viously a truly devoted Bobcat, and tries her best to achieve success —

Technology
Highest Quality Computer By Sragvi Pattanaik
Over time, we have all become very reliant on technology. We use technology for many things, and is something that we use daily. Since we are dependent on technology for many things, it should be important that we have the highest quality computer so that we can safely rely on them. Without a reliable computer, it’s hard to do what you want in the amount of time that you prefer.
Apple computers are considered to be the best computer to use on a daily basis. “They offer SSDs which are about 4 times faster than a traditional hard drive and there are also no mov-ing parts, so they are incredibly reliable.” Apple a computer that you can rely on. These distin-guish the hassle that people have with storing something on a hard drive. Also, Apple has Thun-derbolt which delivers transfer speeds 2 times faster than USB 3.0 and is 20 times faster than USB 2.0. Apple is a brand that you wouldn’t need to worry about in the field of transferring speeds. On Macs, the operating system has proven to be neat and is very easy and compatible to use. “...the operating system is just so clean and easy to work with.” Therefore, Appl computers are reliable and compatible to work with due ti tis amazing features which can save time from your usage of technology and creating more time for other daily activities that are on the same level of importance.

SAMSUNG VS. APPLE
The new Samsung GearS and other products are extremely ad-vanced technology. The Samsung GearS won’t replace your
smartphone, but it will probably do more without a phone than any of its major competitors. (Like.... Apple.)
I guess the only way we're going to find out who is better is after
both watches come out.

The Washington Nationals have started making moves this offseason. It looks like the Nationals will still have a great team like last year. The only two players that the Nats could not sign is Adam Laroche; who went to Chicago’s south side for a two year $25 deal. Asdrubal Cabrera also hit the road for a one year deal in Tampa for $8 million. The biggest deal of the whole MLB offseason was made by the Nats when GM Mike Rizzo signed superstar pitcher Max Scherzer to a seven year $210 million deal. With the departure of Adam Laroche, Ryan Zimmerman will move across the diamond to play first base. This seemed like an inevitable plan for the Nationals with Zimmerman’s defense declining quickly. This will hopefully keep the former gold glover’s shoulder healthy at a less demanding position. With Asdrubal Cabrera gone after his short rental season in Washington. The Nats will most likely look towards reserves Danny Espinosa or Kevin Frandsen. Danny Espinosa was the Nats everyday starter a couple years ago until Anthony Rendon came up and took the spot. Espinosa is a switch hitter that clearly bats better from the right side than the left. It has been suggested that he just hit right handed only. It will be a decision made during Spring Training. Here will be the Nats in their contract years.; Doug Fister, Jordan Zimmerman, Denard Span, and Ian Desmond. Denard Span was given his one year option worth $9 million to come back for 2015. Jordan Zimmerman will be paid 16.3 million dollars. And Doug Fister will be paid $7.2 million on arbitration. With Zimmerman and Fister on their contract years and Strasburg a year behind them it leaves the question of who will be the big money pitchers for the Nats. The Nats will be lucky if they can keep two out of three. Zimmerman has been on the staff the longest and has the most wins by any National’s pitcher. After 2015 Zimmerman will be expected to sign a contract similar to John Lester’s of six years $155 million.By the time the Nationals lose some of their pitchers they will probably have a farm system of starting pitchers that are ready to come up. As far as pitching in the farm system the Nats have Eric Fedde, AJ Cole, and the Nats top prospect, Lucas Giolito. Giolito is a 6 foot 6, 230 pound fire baller that has been clocked at 100 miles per hour. He will be 20 years old when he starts his second season coming off of Tommy John surgery. Fedde who is
21 was selected eighteenth overall in the 2014 draft. He also underwent Tommy John surgery in May of 2014 just before the draft. There is a possibility that he could start pitching again later in the season. The Nationals strengthened their infield when they traded Steven Souza to the Padres for 21 year old shortstop Trea Turner. Turner was selected thirteenth overall in the 2014 draft. It has been speculated that he will possibly be Ian Desmond’s replacement when Desmond becomes a free agent next year. The Nationals also traded reliable setup man Tyler Clippard for Yunel Escobar. Clippard was the longest tenured reliever in the bullpen. He pitched seven seasons with the Nats.

Health
Ebola She was the first person known to have contracted Ebola in the latest outbreak, and she was a Spanish nurse named Teresa Romero. 44 year-old Teresa Romero said that she had clung to the memories of family when she thought she was dying and still does not know how she even caught the disease.
"When I felt I was dying I would cling to my memories, to my family and my husband, I was isolated and I did not have any contact with the exterior ex-cept with (husband) Javier by telephone."
After being given a variety of treatments, Teresa recovered and was re-leased from the Hospital. One of the treatments was blood plasma from another survivor, Paciencia Melgar.
Though Teresa’s journey was long and hard, she wasn’t the only one who had been diagnosed with Ebola. A second case of Ebola in the United States was diagnosed on October 11, 2014 to a nurse, Nina Pham. Another nurse, Amber Joy Vinson, became the third person diagnosed with the disease on October 14, 2014. Although hundreds of people are being monitored for a potential Ebola infection, no other confirmed cases of locally transmitted Ebola have yet been reported in the United States, except for the two nurses.
Ways to Avoid Ebola
1. Understand how the disease is spread.
2.Avoid areas in which infections have been reported and suspected.
3.Avoid direct contact with infected people.

Annie 2014
By Sofia Rosenbaum
The musical sensation Annie has now hit the big screen! It stars the same optimistic, curly-haired youngster from the original films, but has made some tweaks. The movie begins with showing Annie (Quvenzhane Wallis) making her way through the busy streets, coming home to her cruel foster parent, Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz), whose screechy yell-ing nearly broke my eardrums. A note from Annie’s real parents says they will be back for her eventually. Unfortunately, that has not happened yet. Meanwhile, cell phone business tycoon Will Stacks is having some serious doubts about his cam-paign for mayor of New York. His trusty assistant Grace (Rose Byrne) is helping all she can, but his adviser Guy (Bobby Cannavale) always seems to yell at Stacks about every decision he makes. Stacks’ and Annie’s stories intertwine when Annie trips in the street while chasing after a dog and misses death by an inch when Stacks grabs her and pulls her away. Later, Guy jumps on Stacks to tell him that the crazy event landed in the paper, and it would be a great campaign opportunity to take the girl in, demonstrating how kind and caring he is. He reluctantly agrees and decides to ask Annie out to lunch with reporters madly snapping pictures. Their first encounter is not the best, to say the least, but eventually Stacks and Annie begin to warm up to each other and have a bond. And just when everything is going right, scheming adviser Guy and the tough, mean Miss Hannigan concoct a shocking plot that would change Annie’s life...forever. The movie has an overall happy, carefree vibe, with a modern twist. The melodious, classical tunes of the songs are changed to energetic Auto-tune raps, which bothered many people (including me) but for others was fun and interesting. The actors and actresses are all very talented, but if you don’t like dragged-out, over-dramatic dialogue, than you will not find Cameron Diaz very capti-vating. 2014 has definitely been an interesting movie year, and Annie has brought charm and innocent humor to the big screen. This happy-go-lucky musical comedy will have you singing “Hard Knock Life” for weeks, months- or possibly the rest of your life. Picture from http://tlkabtmovies.com/

The Making of Interstellar by Maria Kutishcheva
Interstellar is a blockbuster film, and follows a sci-fi story about the myster-ies of space. Its setting was in space and was full of planes, solar systems, and most importantly black holes. The graphic effects are stunning and it’s obvious that much time was spent on it.
The story the filmmakers came up with is set in a dystopian near future when crops have failed and humanity is on the verge of extinction. A former astronaut, (McConaughey) gets recruited for one last flight, a desperate attempt to reach other star systems where humans can rebuild civilization.
And there lies a problem because other stars are far from earth. Even the nearest ones are millions of light years away. Kip Thorne, the teams head physicist, suggested the idea of a wormhole, a hypothetical tear in the uni-verse connecting points. He was inspired by the movie Contact, released in 1983. The wormhole theory was a natural choice for Interstellar too. As Thorne talked about the movie with Christopher Nolan, the director and writer of Interstellar, their discussion about the physical properties of worm-holes led to a problem for a filmmaker: How do you actually show a wormhole on the screen?
That problem was not the only one. Nolan's story relied on time dilation: time passing at different rates for different characters. To make this scientifically possible, he'd need a massive black hole. The black hole in the movie is called Gargantua. It nearly spins at the speed of light. As a filmmaker, Nolan had no idea how to make something like that look realistic. “Chris called me and said he wanted to send a guy over to my house to talk to me about the visual effects. ”Thorne said, ‘Sure, send him over.’’ Then Paul Franklin came to help.
“It's very easy to fall into the trap of breaking the rules of reality,” says Paul, a supervisor of Acade-my Award-winning effects. “And those rules are actually quite strict.”
Paul asked Thorne to generate equations that would guide their effects software the way physics govern the real world. They started with worm-holes. If light around a wormhole wouldn't travel in a straight line like normal, what would it do?
