“The term “general revelation” means that

God makes himself known through nature,

human conscience, and history. “Special

revelation” means that God makes himself

known to specific people in a special and

unusual way, and at specific times.

UNDERSTANDING GOD THROUGH PROPHECY

▸God’s desire to communicate with His people

▸Prophecy grew from the foundation of the moral law and dealt

primarily with the application of God’s moral code to Israel,

▸God spoke specifically to his people through the mouths of His

prophets to convey His moral and spiritual laws. The process by

▸To the mind of the prophet was imparted truth from the mind of

the Spirit.

▸The prophet was inspired by the Spirit to articulate the truth of

the future event to those for whom it was intended.
