It has been a very different few months to be your Ladies' President and whilst we have not been able to get together socially, I am sure that those of you who have managed a game of golf are very appreciave of all the hard work be- hind the scenes to keep BGC operaonal. On your behalf I would like to thank Phil Wikman and the Commiee for all the extra work undertaken to keep us walking the fairways. The very informave emails have been keeping us up to date and abreast of the situaon at the Club. Over the past few days those emails have allowed us to feel that in some small ways our golf is returning to normal. This will only happen if we connue to abide by the rules, so I would encourage everyone to keep up good pracce and then we may be able to make some more small steps to con- nue our journey back to happy days in the Clubhouse. Isnt the social side the reason many of us torture ourselves by playing the wonderful game of golf? It's great to see that the Garden Room will now be open every day – with the usual distancing rules – so please try to support the Club by using this much missed facility. I look forward to catching up with everyone both on and off the course very soon, so unl then please stay safe and healthy. The Red Tees WINTER 2020 From the LadiesCommiee WELCOME BACK! Ladies' Captain

Welcome back to full competition at the Bris-

bane Golf Club and playing in fours again.

After a lot of hard work, especially from our

club captain Alan Grieve, we have managed to

reschedule all our major and honour board events. We start this

coming Tuesday with the conclusion of the Violet Midson

Memorial.

The remainder of the changes to our Honour Board Events are as

Alan has already advised in his email and these are set out in

chronological order on the next page (see Upcoming Events).

Our Winter Cup will start on the second Thursday in June and

thereafter every second Thursday, finishing in the second week of

October. If you haven’t registered for the Winter Cup and would

like to play, please see me or our Vice-Captain, Berenice Holmes.

You still have a couple of weeks to do so.

The BDLGA had little choice but to cancel Pennants for 2020. There

was a lot of ground work done to organize our teams and everyone

was looking forward to the season. Thank you to all the players

who put their hand up to be part of the Pennant team and I hope

that next year you will all be available again.

We achieved a great pace of play when playing in twos, so let's

keep it up now that we are playing in fours and please remember

the rules for social distancing.

I would like to thank our Club Committee, staff and the ground

staff led by Mitch for all their hard work in these tough times and I

hope to catch up with everyone on the golf course, and in the not

too distant future, for a drink in the club house.

Ladies' President

Hello Ladies

Who would have thought that some, not all, would be complaining about boredom! For those who don’t want to read any more books, complete

any more jigsaws or remove another weed from the garden and ladies that have been managing home schooling and stay at home family members, the latest news on COVID restrictions I imagine is very welcome. It has been a very different few months to be your Ladies' President and whilst we have not been able to get together socially, I am sure that those of you who have managed a game of golf are very appreciative of all the hard work be-hind the scenes to keep BGC operational. On your behalf I would like to thank Phil Wikman and the Committee for all the extra work undertaken to keep us walking the fairways. The very informative emails have been keeping us up to date and abreast of the situation at the Club. Over the past few days those emails have allowed us to feel that in some small ways our golf is returning to normal. This will only happen if we continue to abide by the rules, so I would encourage everyone to keep up good practice and then we may be able to make some more small steps to con-tinue our journey back to happy days in the Clubhouse. Isn’t the social side the reason many of us torture ourselves by playing the wonderful game of golf? It's great to see that the Garden Room will now be open every day – with the usual distancing rules – so please try to support the Club by using this much missed facility. I look forward to catching up with everyone both on and off the course very soon, so until then please stay safe and healthy.
