FEATUReModrapheniacs Sandford RallyThere arent many times when we get so many of the club together in the same place at the sametime, especially when its in foreign climbs, but this weekend was a real milestone for the club.Twenty plus of us converged on this beautiful part of the world just outside Dorchester/Poole inDorset and bunked up in four accommodation units in the lovely wooded Parkdean Holiday Park.

The day began very early for some at Deal Pier as Paula, Rob, Joe, & Mark gathered for the long(180 mile) scooter ride along the coast, picking up Chris in Dover, Shaun & Chel from the Sloths &Helen from the 1066 Saxons. The weather was amazing just like mid-summer A nice breakfast atthe Bungalow Caff in Bexhill - but the ride was soon to become ill fated. There were no breakdowns, just a helmet malfunction which Chris ably fixed and a sparkplug change for young Joe. All the wayalong John was supporting in the Backbone of Scootering, the trusty Tranny Van.

The traffic all along the coast was choka and things started to go wrong when we left the A27 tooearly and got lost in Portsmouth and decided to avoid the M27 motorway by going cross-countryto the New Forest. Thankfully we had good advice from Chel who said whatever you do, dont gointo Southampton!. Ten minutes later we were in downtown Southampton and couldnt find a wayout. No worries we bought a map and realised wed have at least 30 minutes of hard riding to getback on course. Two and a half hours later we were still battling to get onto the end of the M27taking a route through a place in the New Forest called Nomansland with dozens of wild horses justroaming around. Luckily we asked directions and where told to go up the road but turn left whenyou get to where the old barn used to be. Chris sorted it out by resorting to a navigation techniquecalled Bollox!, go that way!.

10 hours and we were on the park outside reception and met up with all the others for a nice pint inthe pub which Mike, Linda, and Settee had already made sure they had found. For some Friday nightwas probably a bit of a let down. The riders were done in and some had heat stroke. The venue itself, although massive was overcrowded, the Madness Trib was poor, and we all got split up. No worrieswe thought, well make up for it on Saturday.

Saturday was phenomenal. Those with Scooters went on the massive rideout to a cove. There hadgot to be over 250 scooters. Joe, Seetee, Mark, Shaun & Chel extended the ride and went on a 40mile Shauns Tours to Portland Bill, which was fascinating, but we didnt see any Pirates though!

Saturday evening we all donned the White Cliffs Tee Shirts, mounted a land grab in the mainhall andhad the best party. Big wigs the order of the day, with Suzy sporting the biggest wig of all, Marmitelooking like a mad Scotsman and Jim, Chris, and Simon looking like 70s adult film stars. Big jugs ofbeer and Mandie & Sarah sorting out the weird shots for everyone. Our Rally advert on the bigscreens causing applause everytime it came on and the fantastic TOTAL JAM giving us shout outs. They went down a storm, the floor was packed. There were also many there that we knew fromother clubs in Kent including Medway, Big7, Thanet, Pirates, Sid James.

All in all it was a great weekend with great people and one I think many will want to do again in thefuture. The ride home was motorway all the way and only took 5 hours !
