The meaning and purpose of my l ife (SPEX. 23) (Paraphrased by Fr. David L. Fleming, S. J.  Jesuit

Spirituality)

IDENTITY God created us and gave us life that we may be happy.

GOAL The goal of our life is to praise, serve and love God and to live with Him forever, Our response of love allow us to be truly happy and allows God's life to flow into us without limit.

MEANS Everything in this world is gift of God, given to us so that we can know God more easily and allows us to return His love more readily.

ATTITUDE Therefore, we must use all these gifts of God in such a way that they help us to be loving personsand detach from them when they hinder us from God.

NORM We must not let any of these gifts become the center of our lives and displace God and so hinder our growth toward our goal.

“human beings are created...”

We are creatures.

We rememberwhen we were gravely ill, when we had an accident, when we were in danger of

deathour moments of failure,

We are creatures, utterly vulnerable, limited, dependent, helpless and mortal.

Who should be the purpose and meaning of my life, me or God?

Isn’t God like a self ish person who uses me for Himself?

PSALM 8

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens….

When I look at your heavens, the work of your f ingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;

What are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?

Yet you have made them a l i t t le lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.

You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet, al l sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the f ield, the birds of the air, and the f ish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
