The Engineers
The Puppy Express
• The device is designed from a plastic tube, a BB, duct tape, and a frisbee.
• The BB goes through the plastic tube down a ramp, into two loops, around a turn, and spirals down to the bottom. Then it ramps out onto the frisbee where it circles around to the center.
Stored Energy
• BB- Gravitational Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy at the Bottom of the tube
• The BB has both Gravitational PE and KE throughout most of the ride and ends up losing all of the energy on the frisbee as it comes to a complete stop.
The Design
• The construction of the coaster took two days full of work to decide how we wanted to do it while keeping the cost down to a minimum.
• Duct Tape=$3, Tube=$7, BB=$4, Box=$3, Frisbee=$3
• We also wanted to create the design to actually have certain aspects of real roller coasters.
Conclusion
• A few setbacks occurred during the construction including the fact that we did not have any wood or supplies on the final workday before thanksgiving.
• So we had to result to duct tape and the box itself for the support.
• All in all, it’s a roller coaster
