THE PUNJAB SCHOOL ADMISSION TO CLASS VI This is for the information of the parents that a few vacancies for admission to the Class arise occasionally. These are purely merit-based admissions. Admissions to these vacancies are finalized on the basis of the results of the written examination in the subjects of English, Urdu, Mathematics, Science, and a subsequent interview. An oral test for Quran is conducted separately. Syllabi for the written examination are as follows: ENGLISH: Grammar: Singular/ Plural and Masculine and Feminine, Nouns (Proper & Common, Collective, Abstract),Pronouns( Personal, Relative), Verbs ( different forms of verb), Adverbs, Auxiliary Verbs, Adjectives, Words/Opposites.( Fill in the blanks, Match the columns, Identification, Underline the correct Part of Speech,Correct use of Verb, Correct subject and verb agreement etc.) Composition: Descriptive Writing (e.g. My School, Quaid e-Azam etc.) (about 80-100 words), Letter (Informal e.g. to friend/parents,sister/brother asking for some money etc. ) Application (Formal e.g. for character certificate etc. ), Story Writing( Morals/Titles: A Foolish Stag etc.), Sentence making, Spelling(missing letters), Reading Comprehension ( Q/Ans, etc.), Tenses (Translation from Urdu to English, Present, Past and Future Indefinite, Continuous and Perfect) MATHEMATICS: New Syllabus Mathematics 6(PTBB): Unit-1 Sets, Unit-2 Whole Numbers, Unit-3 Factors and Multiples (Ex 3.1 to 3.5, Ex 3.6 Q1 to Q6) Unit-4 Integers, Unit 5: Simplifications (Ex 5.1 Q1 to Q10, Ex 5.2 Q1 to Q7) (Objective exercise of each unit is included and review exercise of each unit is excluded) Note: Use of calculator is not allowed. In December, 1930 Dr. Muhammad Iqbal was invited to preside over the annual meeting of All India

Muslim League at Allahabad. In his address, he openly opposed the idea of welding together of Hindus

and Muslims into one nation. He declared that the move to apply one constitution to both the Hindus and

Muslims would result in a civil war. He wanted to see the Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and the KPK. We

can say that Allama Iqbal was the first thinker to give us the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims

of India. The Muslims soon realized the importance of the demand for two separate states. It was then

adopted as the Pakistan Resolution in 1940.
