Considerations for BW Aggregation• Subcarrier Spacing

– Center frequency spacing should be integer multiples of Subcarrier Spacing

• Transmission Filter in a BS– The TX spectral Mask of aggregated BW should be same or better than that of legacy narrow

BW located in the edge of the aggregated BW.– More Sharp and complex filter should be supported for BS supporting aggregated BW.– Different TX Spectral Mask for Aggregated system

• Transmission/Reception Filter in MSs supporting wider BW– It is better to support the same filter characteristic with BS– Require high complexity for MS. (larger taps of FFR filter)– Can be a capability factor of Multicarrier supportable MS

• PRU configuration– The same PRU configuration should be applied for Both MSs supporting wider BW and MSs

supporting narrow BW– PRUs in the aggregated BW can be shared among MSs and/or be dedicated to some MS

supporting special BW.– Usage of the Irregular PRUs from the alignment problem ( Figure 1, 2)

• Solution 1 : Define Irregular PRU • Solution 2 : Remain empty• Solution 3 : Special PRUs for control channel for wider BW MSs.

– The dedicated PRUs for some MSs can be allocated only as LLRUs.

Configuration Index for Aggregated Multicarrier System

• From the configuration MSs can know the various information

– PRU structure• Position of Regular PRU• Position of Irregular PRU (or Empty

region, DC subcarriers)– Center frequency for each sub-band

• Frequency Shift Value• Spectral Mask

• Multicarrier Configuration Index (MCI)

– Index for the aggregated band configuration

– Simple Indication for the configuration-dependent information

– Even though the used BW by some MS is smaller than the total aggregated BW, the total BW configuration should be transmitted.

Text Proposal

Insert the following text in the end of the first paragraph of SDD Chapter 11.6.4

11.6.4.1 Multi-carrier Control Information

In case of the multi-carrier transmission by carrier aggregation, the information for the total aggregated BW configuration is informed to MSs supporting wider BW via the primary carrier in form of Multicarrier Configuration Index (MCI).

Insert the following text after page 48, line 19 of SDD

19.1 Multi-carrier operation principles

• Carrier aggregationo MS shall always maintain its physical layer connection and monitor the control information on the primary carrier.o In case of aggregated BW transmission, the PRU configurations of the narrow band are maintained except for guard band. o The usage of the irregular PRU (e.g. 14, 25 subcarriers) generated by aggregating BW in guard band is FFS.o The DL/UL Resource allocation can be differently applied according to MS’s RF filter capability.
