FUN FACTS:

• Homeschoolers have higher post secondary calculus grades

• They’re more likely to obtain managerial or professional designations

• They’re more likely than any other group to complete a doctorate

(Source: Fraser Institute: Home Schooling in Canada: The Current Picture-2015)

In a small U.S. study (2010),homeschoolers were found to have a higher postsecondary graduation rate;

66.7% compared to 57.5%.They also had higher grade point averages throughout each year of postsecondary schooling.

A recent Canadian study found that homeschooled students were more likely than their peers from other education sectors to complete a doctorate or a professional degree. Even special needs students with

learning disabilities were found, in several U.S. studies, to have higher levels of academic engagement and achievement than similarly affected students in public schools.

2. Involved in their communities

Homeschoolers learn social norms in the context of a secure, home-setting and are able to practice these skills in a variety of age groups. This increases their self-esteem in the process.

For example, a homeschool student has volunteered weekly at a foodbank for 6 years of his homeschool journey, he also volunteers regularly at community parades.
