ACTS 1:8 OPPORTUNITIES

FROM THE PASTOR

Significant opportunities await each of us this

month to encounter the living Lord. Two scripture

studies will begin during June. Throughout the

summer, we will focus on the beautiful words of

1 Corinthians 13 during the morning worship

services. “Choose Love” will direct us to the

unfailing love of Christ which is to be replicated in

each of us as the children of God. An extended verse

-by-verse study of the Gospel of Mark will kick-off

on Wednesday, June 12. These times in the Word of

God are not intended to replace your daily time in

the Scriptures, but to enhance your walk with the

Lord as we corporately open our hearts and minds

to our redeemer.

Vacation Bible School is Sunday, June 2,

through Thursday, June 6, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

and ending at 9:00 p.m. each night. Many children

from our church and our community will be gath-

ered to hear of God’s love for them in Jesus Christ.

You are needed to serve these children through age-

group classes, music, refreshments, recreation,

welcome center, registration, security, crafts,

prayer, and a host of other responsibilities. Please

contact Jodi Mims to let her know of your part in

loving these children and enabling them to love

Christ.

On Saturday night, June 15, our Engage

Community Outreach will host a “Movie on the

Lawn” for our community. We need you to be

present to interact with the families who attend as

well as help with the concessions and games. More

information will be provided. We will also engage

our community on Saturday, June 29, by providing

trash services for bulk items. As families bring their

unused items, we will seek to build relationships

with them. Again, more information will be

provided.

Pray for our Vermont Mission Team which will

be partnering with Bill and Jan Smith and the New

Creation Fellowship of Chelsea, Vermont. These

“transplanted Texans” are taking the gospel of

Christ to people who live in an area which is

overwhelmingly unreached with the gospel. For

information on how to specifically pray for our

team, please contact Alan Schantz.

FROM THE PASTOR, CONT’D

“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT—We need your help!

June 15, Saturday—Movies on the Lawn: To engage our

community around us, we will be showing a movie on our

north lawn. Before the movie, at 8 p.m., we will have snacks

and games for the neighbors who will come. You are needed to

serve snacks, assist with games, and above all, to have

conversations with and love on our neighbors.

June 29, Saturday—Neighborhood Trash Day. On this day, a

huge trash bin will be located on our parking lot and made

available for the surrounding neighbors to dump trash. We need

volunteers throughout the day to greet people as they bring

their trash, give out free waters, and build relationships.
