ACTS 1:8 OPPORTUNITIES

FROM THE PASTOR Thank you to all who labored in prayer for us as we ministered in Kosovo this past month. We are continually amazed at the story being written in Peja, Kosovo. The Lord is granting favor upon us as we be-come more and more embedded in the lives of people who claim to be Muslim, but neither practice their religion or understand what they are to believe. As a result, conversations concerning Jesus, and His saving grace, are becoming more common. The ever-expanding circle of relationships we are building is by the design of God’s plan. We could never begin to orchestrate on our own what He is accomplishing. With each visit, another family, or another person, opens their arms to welcome us. As we walk through each newly opened pathway, the Lord provides opportunities to reveal the glory of God’s wonderful love. Continue to pray for Simon and Christa Hoopes, International Mission Board missionaries in Kosovo. They face a daunting task each day as they invest their lives in the Kosovar people. Ask the Lord to show them the fruit of their labor. On average, it takes seven years of building relationships with a Muslim before he/she will consider becoming a believer. In their culture, to do so brings with it dire consequences. Even so, we believe the Lord is working in the lives of many Kosovars. We look forward to the day when many will express their faith in Christ. You do not have to go to Kosovo to visit a mission field, you live in one! To equip you to pour your life into the lives of those who need Christ, the church is offering you four opportunities to intentionally grow as a disciple. Each Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m., you can choose between four classes. I am teaching FRESH ENCOUNTER. We are praying for revival and spiritual awakening. John Long is teaching ORDINARY, how to turn the world upside down for Christ. Courtney Samsel is leading a women’s study, A WOMAN WHO DOESN’T QUIT – FIVE HABITS FROM THE LIFE OF RUTH. And, Caleb and Carly Smith are leading a marriage study, CHERISH. Avail yourself to these spiritual growth opportunities. Continue to encourage one another, serve one another, pray for one another, and love one another! I look forward to worshipping our Lord with you this Sunday! Bro. Mark

are perishing.”

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD. Sunday, November 12, during the morning worship, the OCC boxes will be collected. With each box prepared, you not only have the opportunity of sharing the Gospel with the child who receives it, but with that child’s entire family. Will you start praying for the child or children who receive the boxes we send?

REMINDER: This year NO toothpaste or candy will be allowed in shoeboxes! Also, the price to mail each box has increased to $9 per box.

LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING FOR FOREIGN MISSIONS. Go to https://www.imb.org/project-finder/ to examine the many projects that the Lottie Moon Offering needs to fund. Each project around the world is described in detail, with a goal set for each project. You will even find a project called, ONE LIFE-- ONE FARM, which is the Jalapeño Project led by Simon and Christa Hoopes, with whom we partner. Use this site as a tool to educate yourself as to the needs of getting the Gospel out across our world. As well, use this as a tool to help you know how to pray for the nations and those believers who are on the front lines around the world. Our church goal is $10,000.

THANK YOU. Thank you for those of you who prayed for and supported the recent trip to Kosovo. God is at work in the hearts of people, drawing them to himself. Continue to pray for Simon and Christa Hoopes and their ministry with the jalapeño farmers there. As well, continue to pray that God will stir in the hearts of those in whom we visited and met.

It never ceases to amaze me how well a church this size can pull together to put on a large event. This has been my third Fall Festival here in Big Spring and once again, you have demonstrated just how much you care for this community. You donated, baked, and volunteered to provide a great family event for our city. We will be sorting through the registration cards and setting aside the families that asked for more information. Be on the lookout for how you can be involved in reaching out to families that want to know more about our church family.

We have set up a table in the hallway on the West side of the sanctuary. The Kids’ Information Table is used to distribute church materials and resources specifically for children and their families. Check the table for the new Church News booklets. They will allow kids to play games and draw pictures based on listening to the service. Also on the table are the brand new Children’s Ministry Brochure. This colorful pamphlet is a great introduction to what is offered for children. In addition to these two items, you will find seasonal items like Fall Festival information and Upward Registration packets. Check back to the table often for up to date information about what is going on with our kids.

Parent’s resources

Also a reminder, we have a parent's resource table located just outside the youth hall. I provide calendars, magazines, and even free books sometimes. Please feel free to drop by and pick any of these up. All resources are completely free. Near that table is our new system for paying for events. There is a locked mail-slot drop box hanging on the wall. Next to that is clear envelope holder. If you need to sign up and pay for something like camp or DNOW simply grab an envelope, write your student's name on that blank and the event it is for (Camp/Dnow/ etc.) on that blank and drop it in the mailbox on the wall. This is helping to simplify our system for paying for events, contact Jonathan if you have any questions!
