THE PRESIDENCY CLUB NEWS

Dear Members,Come September and its AGM season again. Sept 20th,2008 is the date for our AGM. We look forward tomeaningful and healthy deliberations. A time to take stock of the previousyears performance and time to make new promises.

Of course, along with AGM are the Club elections. Hon President, Hon VicePresident, Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer retire at this AGM and areeligible for reappointment. Five Committee members also demit office. Ofthis: Three (Ms. Latha Kumarasamy, Mr. G. Suresh and Mr. Ajay Bhalla) areeligible for reappointment as Committee Members.

The Annual Report is in the mail and it has an interesting story to tell.Recovering from massive cash losses, we continue (second consecutiveyear!!) to make cash profits even after writing offer Rs 30 lakhs of roomrenovation costs. This is a record in itself. Our Fixed deposits have reachedthe 4 Crore mark. Treasurer Mr. Viji Joseph deserves praise along with therest of the team. This is a result of an effective combination of astutefinancial management and cost control supplemented with great events inall departments, better infrastructure, better usage and turnover.

Well it’s been an eventful year! In fact for me personally, an exciting twoyears as Honorary Secretary of this esteemed organization.

The First ever Presidency Karlsburg Karaoke Inter Club Singing Festivalstarted with the audition on the 14th August. The preliminaries were on Satthe 23rd and finals held on the 30th August. Five clubs in Chennai took partin an event that proved to be great competition and fun for the participantsand the audience.

Happy birthday to you!!! . Your I Bar, which continues to be the trendsetter intown, turned 2 in August 2008. Special mention to Mr. Vivish George, the 1stMIC of The I Bar (MIC 2006-2007)and Ms. Latha Kumarasamy (MIC 2007-2008) for the excellent work done in the two years gone past.

A huge thank you to all of you for all the support, encouragement and helpduring my term. You indeed, made my task infinitely easier and enjoyable!To my President and colleagues on the Committee during the last twoyears, words are inadequate and insufficient to express my gratitude forwell…. The Inter club Karaoke Festival started on a high

note on 23rd August ,08' with five other clubs of

the city participating, namely Madras Race Club,

Madras Cricket Club, Gandhi Nagar Club, Madras

Boat Club and Madras Gymkhana , with 22 competi-

tors participating in the Prelims. The judges for that

evening were: 1.Ms.Sapna Abraham ( Singer) 2.

Ms.Kalpana (Playback Singer) and 3.Mr.Siddharth

(music Director)

9 Male singers and 6 Female contestants were

chosen to move to the Finals..

The Finals on 30th Aug,08' was a gala affair . The 15

Our Gym summer coaching camp was conducted in two batches, both generating very good responsefrom members. First & second batches were completed on 15.06.2008. There were 31 dependents whobenefited from the camp.

“A healthy mind rests in a Health body” and the best way to start is by catching them young. Theworkout of the summer camp designed for children was primarily for weight reduction with an overalltoning of the body.

We are extremely happy as the children have shown great enthusiasm and dedication during the camp.The following kids have performed exceptionally at the camp showing great results. The details ofchildren and weight loss are given below.
