We have five trees to decorate and a wreath for each of the residents’ doors. Every year when we pull out the Christmas wreaths they need some sort of repair and we will spend an afternoon working on them before they are displayed. Other special activities this month are the SCS Kids coming to sing and the CBS Trio performing, the Village Northwest carolers, Kevin Anderson the Piano Man, a resident Christmas party and a New Year’s Eve day party to ring in the New Year! In November staff and residents participated in our special dress up day “PLAIDURDAY”! Residents enjoyed a large variety of activities; including a fun game of Pictionary with the members of the St. Joseph O’Brien County Parish, a birthday party provided by the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn, where we had great entertainment from the HMS middle school band, a Veterans’ program where we honored our veterans and had entertainment provided by the R&R LINE and St. Croix Hospice pinned our veterans. We also had a full house on the 19th during our Family Fall Festival, where family and friends were invited to Prairie View for great food and fellowship. Residents, staff and guests all took part in putting what they were thankful for on our Thankful Tree located in the activity room. Until next time, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. As inspirational as these seven simple words are, the residents of the Villa are even more inspiring. Whenever I mentioned the idea of being grateful during the month of November, one of the residents always responded, “I’m grateful every month!” And to that, I replied that she is truly my inspiration. To coincide with gratitude, we made thankful trees that were used as centerpieces for a November Family Fall Festival, which combined family and a great meal. To celebrate Fast Food Day, we enjoyed chicken strips and french fries from Jay’s. Noodle Ball and Parachute Ball are activities that involve our blow up bouncy balls always get everyone moving and laughing. Card games, dice games, and Bingo are also favorite activities. Rounding off our month of great meals was our Thanksgiving dinner. I can’t sum up this month of thankfulness without mentioning how inspiring the Villa residents are and to thank them. Everyone enjoys the smell of cookies baking as well as eating warm cookies. On December 19, we will have a Christmas party in the Villa. Along with games and presents, we will have special entertainment. The CBS Trio will entertain us with a selection of Christmas songs.
