Registering to Vote• National Voter Registration Act of 1993

contains provisions designed to make it easier to vote:– Citizens must be given the chance to register to vote

when applying for, renewing, or changing the address on their driver's license or non-driver ID card.

– Voter registration forms must also be available at libraries, schools, banks, and other institutions to serve people without drivers' licenses.

– All states must have a system of mail registration.

At least 17 years old. (You can vote in the first election in which you are 18.)

• You may register in person at a county election office, Department of Motor Vehicles office, or certain public assistance agencies.

• Voter registration can also be done through the mail

• Voter registration cards must be postmarked no later than the 21st day before the election

• You must provide:– Full name– Residence address– Date of birth– Signature– A piece of identification– Political party affiliation (if so desired)

• A county clerk or election officer is responsible for elections
