There may be no better trait to model foryour children than this one! Instead ofletting a negative situation turn your moodsour, take a moment to find the silver-lining in an unexpected event ordevelopment.

For example, if you’ve planning a funweekend at the beach but you’re calledback into work that Saturday, thuscanceling the trip, you may be tempted tospend the weekend complaining.

Instead of succumbing to this attitude, whynot turn the situation around and planlocal events that you can still squeeze inafter you work. Who knows what fun youmay find on your stay-cation? Chances are, you’ll make better memories than spendingthe weekend sulking indoors!

at home

At work, you’ll be asked to utilize growthmindset on a daily basis. Did a client returnwork asking for revisions? Maybe youreceived constructive criticism during your6-month review?

In both scenarios, you have two choices. You can disregard the comments and chalkit off to the other person’s inability tounderstand you and your work. Or, youcan take the moment to reflect, absorb, andchange.

Keep this in mind: if you never makemistakes at work, you’ll never get better atyour job. You’ll lose out on goldenopportunities to expand your skill set.

Think about the last time you’ve assessedyour life and overarching goals. Whattargets have you hit? Which ones remainslightly (or completely) out of range?

Many people let their dreams slip out ofreach because they feel overwhelmed bythe process of change. They may feel thatit’s too late to go back to school or changeindustries. They may find their skill set ismissing key tools.

Instead of letting this moment define your‘almost’ success, take control of your futureand re-activate that goal. Break down theprocess into steps so that the entire goalfeels much for manageable.
