MARTYRDOM We are iu a quandary over this Eau Claire tie. We ta:ke it with

all the seriousness of a defeat. We are earnestly praying that the wolves will not come out until the team ma.y ,turn in a win over I'Ja,tteville next Saturday. We, like all other humans, delight in saying "We told yon so." Yet we, recall our counsel in the second issue of the Pointer of oYer optimism and the consequences of an unexpected string of defeats. W r know that · the feared results are being held in cheek.

The press reports of Saturday's tie-up leaves us wondering. The penalties were abnormal and without questiol! deprived the Point of a ,·oriference win. We are s till qnestioning the possibilities of a refe1·ee being able to call the alle{!'ed clipping of a man on the line of scrimmage, when his eyes hould have been following the ru!llner on !I fifty yar<l gallop ; a procedure which called for a total loss of about seventy-five yards. ·

No alibis, - but it should make us feel like martyrs. And friends, their i nothing like martyrdom to foster and advance a principle, a state, or a religion. Why not a football team 1 -
